PENNSYLVANIA (WOLF) — Fire departments and county emergency centers across Pennsylvania are advising the public of a statewide 911 outage.

According to the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, the state is experiencing a statewide intermittent 911 outage.

Individuals experiencing issues contacting 911 are asked to contact their local 911 center on their non-emergency lines. Do not call them just to check whether or not it is working. Only call them for actual emergencies.

You can check social media pages or websites from your local fire company, police department or county for further information.

It remind me of some old joke who said instead of calling 911, call for pizza, they arrive faster than police or paramedics.

I've heard of people calling 911 because they ran out of soda. I guess running out of Pepsi is an emergency if you're having caffeine withdrawals. The pizza thing is actually done to hide that you're calling 911. Someone beating you or trying to kill you is probably not going to respond well to their victim whipping the phone out and calling 911.

Pennsylvania unveils cause behind 911 outage​

(WHTM) – Pennsylvania’s Emergency Management Agency is releasing new details on the 911 outage that affected the entire state earlier this month.

According to PEMA, a preliminary report showed that the cause of intermittent outages within the Next-Generation 911 (NG911) system on July 11 was “due to a defect in an operating system.”

The intermittent outage, which lasted several hours, is not believed to be the result of a cyber-attack, according to PEMA.

“As soon as the intermittent outages started, our vendors and partner public safety organizations began to investigate the cause and take steps to resolve the issue,” said PEMA Executive Deputy Director Jeff Boyle. “We activated the Emergency Alert System and issued Wireless Emergency Alerts as a precautionary measure to notify everyone in Pennsylvania of the issue and to follow county-based back up plans should they not be able to reach the 911 centers by calling the traditional three-digit phone number.”

PEMA says a more detailed analysis is being executed and information that is not security-sensitive will be released at a later time.

The issues were first detected in Delaware County around 2 p.m. on July 11 when some calls to 911 weren’t being delivered to the communications center.

According to PEMA, Pennsylvania’s 911 centers process nearly 14.5 million requests for emergency services annually.

Residents are being asked to remember their county’s non-emergency contact lines in the event of a future 911 outage. After the statewide outage earlier this month, Dauphin County experienced “sporadic issues” with its 911 system on Saturday due to a power outage.

I am concerned by this outage for one reason this feels like a test for a bigger target. This part of the country that got hit is mostly rural Amish country and the smaller cities and very outer ring suburbs.
I feel like there is going to be a potential terror event that goes on and this is the pre cursor to it.

It happened in my smallish city far away yesterday as well.

If they are planning something it's on the national level.
