Why should I give a shit about Atlantis? Give me one non-ironic answer. Not "Jason Momoa was in it for a bit."
He was super scrawny too. Weird show and there wasn't really any eye candy.

I didn't really watch SG1 but didn't they do stupid shows towards the end too? I remember that one where they were puppets and had some fart-sniffing ending where fake black Spock opines on how necessary sci-fi stories are but all it did was make me hate sci-fi nerds.

Thinking of video games and how much stuff Star Trek predicted. How long until we have a video game that directly stimulates our dopamine centers?
Some video games are already abusing dopamine producing behavior to become addictive, when you think of when "The Game" was written none of that shit was common. Althought gambling had already been linked to dopamine addiction at the time I expect.

If you've never watched SG1 and heard a description for "200" it does sound retarded but if you have watched the show and Farscape then "200" is fucking hilarious.

Phil Hartman makes an excellent Klingon warrior.
AH!
TBF, the whole point of the Cerritos is to be the cheap, crappy ship assigned to unimportant sectors, so using salvaged Galaxy parts makes sense for a Frankenship. Too bad the Nebula just does it better.
The nebula is meant to be a budget galaxy class, intended for patrols duties in the more remote parts of the federation, where it's necessary to show the colours and where support is remote enough to require the ship to be self-sufficient, but not to the point of multi-year excursions on the fringes of known space. The california class mostly replaces the miranda in a logistics and fleet support within the federation core. Very different roles.

Budget meaning that it's cheaper to build comparatively, the thing is still one of the largest and most capable classes in the fleet.

A Shi'kahr class would be a good fit, a funny looking dumpy backline thing that's practically a joke to the rest of the fleet.

Looks like this murder... was out of this world. 8)

Always a good sign when your writers are so bored that they copy some other mid network slop. Just end the show, you cowards.

I finished Atlantis last night and the only reason to watch it is the SG1 crossover episodes.

I knew it.

Seriously, it's the second to last episode and Atlantis does a CSI parody? Then it forced me to listen to Marilyn Manson for the first time since I was making out with a girl in my room in 8th grade.
The episode was really good, it was kind of a sequel to a previous parallel-universe-McKay, but I think it was a bad way to celebrate 100 episodes.

I never understood the DS9 vs. Babylon 5 rivalry. They're both great shows and having both is like your favorite band releasing a double album.
I watched DS9 as a teen and Babylon 5 as an adult. Im probably 51-49 in favour of Babylon 5.

I see DS9 as having 3 major issues, with only 1 of them being with the show itself.

1. It came off the back of TNG which I hope isnt controversial to say was peak Trek. Despite being a great show, that dip will always feel disappointing even though it’s inevitable, quality can’t go up or stay stable forever.

2. The fixedness of the station. Again, story was great, but in the context of being a part of Star Trek it makes everything feel smaller and more localized. This is less of a problem when you have a new IP like B5, it allows for more changes to the feel of a show.

3. The plagiarism allegations. I personally think it’s unlikely plagiarism didn’t happen, and while they were definitely unique enough, I find it offputting.

I think if DS9 had either stuck closer to the ship formula or had not mirrored the B5 overall storyline (There were plenty of great DS9 storylines, either isolates to an episode or that could have been disconnected from the gamme quadrant like red squad, you don’t need the overarching story to tell a lot of the small stories in it), then the two would not have been so divisive.

Last episode written and filmed, though. By that point they knew the show was cancelled, so they decided to just have fun with it.
