I have to say that 4chan should never be trusted lol.
Im honestly so glad I dont take /v/ seriously at all nowadays. Imagine complaining about quippy dialogue in a Star Fox game

Finally, I was waiting for something like this. Not enough, but it will do for now. I recall there were potential characters you could unlock for your chat portraits, I wonder what characters can you have here. I know Andross is an option, but I dunno who else is here.

I cannot understand why people like this game so much.
The only good StarFox game was StarFox Adventures.
Holy shit are a bunch of you just sitting around trying to not have fun as hard as possible? The Star Fox release is among the worst I've ever seen for gamers proving that they don't deserve the time of day, let alone a decent video game.

This remake is fun as fuck. A bunch of you are wet farts.
Hey, I loved Star Fox 64....the first time. I have increasingly less interest every time they remake it
Hiring woketards will not end well for Nintendo.
Unfortunately they've been doing it for a long time now
Wasn't the Mario2 movie using a different, non-woke actor for Fox? Why use another for the remake that's meant to promote the damn franchise?
Because Glen Powell, I imagine, is bloody expensive and that would go against Nintendo's ethos to spend as little money as possible on English voice actors by just pulling whoever off the street
*except is totally fine with being addressed as He so is just an attention whore looking for asspats
So, like all of them?

There's no such fucking thing as 'non-binary'

I was a huge fan of the N64 version and I didn't realize until now just how much of that hinged on how much I enjoyed the voice acting. It was actually a meme between my friends and I to dramatically shout out "My Emperor! I've failed you!" if we screwed up something while our parents looked at us like "WTF is wrong with you?"

The new one also doesn't get you pumped to play by having General Pepper dramatically say "We NEED your help, Star Fox! Andross has declared war..." and so on while the music is going. He does still pretty much say that in the remake, but it's implemented differently.

I'm also really salty this exchange was cut after you beat the Blue Marine stage:
Peppy: "Slippy's not such a screwup after all!"
Slippy: "Thanks A LOT, Peppy!"

Peppy honestly just feels like a GPS voice talking to you now. He of course was the one telling you what to do in the original but he also had a personality.

I'm already skipping cut scenes. The added ones are just basically telling you about the levels you can enter and that's about it. We're not getting the fun character interactions in-between missions like I was hoping for that would flesh them out a little more.

The levels looks and play fantastic. They really do. But it's the little touches here and there the N64 version had, that this version lacks, that just made me go "Oh... OK." after I was finished. I didn't get that nostalgia rush or really feel happy with my purchase when I was done. I know Nintendo wants to bleed us dry by bullying us into an online membership to get access to old games, but it would've been an amazing bonus to unlock Star For 64 after getting all medal on Expert mode in the remake.

I'm really wondering how brand new players are fairing. I remembered exactly where to hit the bosses but the lack of feedback you're doing it right, or even if the Arwing/sub/tank is damaged surprises me. If Peppy is down, I'm not sure if new players are going to understand what to do with some of them like the Zoness boss. Hell, they're screwed if Slippy isn't around either and they can't see the damage meter. It was VERY clear in the N64 version if you were hitting the weak point based on the flashes and sound. I get they're going for realism here, but I wasn't even sure if I was damaging Andross's true form until he went down. There's nothing indicating I was hurting him.

I understand a lot of this is going to be viewed as nitpicky, but I am genuinely that kind of retard that picks apart remakes of my favorite games.

As it still stands, I think the only remake I was 100% satisfied with was Super Mario RPG.

Where's that greentext of Miyamoto getting sick of the audience contradicting themselves on what they want?

Something about insanity and doing the exact same thing over and over again idk.

God, this thread is so fucking boring and I've lost absolutely nothing by no longer keeping up with it. Literal fucking Redditors have more insightful shit to say about this franchise than you people and I find that absolutely pathetic. You people have nothing of value to say whatsoever and yet still insist on speaking anyway. Nintendo's stupid decisions may have killed Star Fox, but this kind of empty, worthless discussion is entirely to blame for keeping it dead.

>"NOOOO YOU CAN'T TALK ABOUT VIDEO GAME"

You completely missed my fucking point, dumbass. I'm not upset that people are talking about the new game, I was pointing out that 90% of this thread has absolutely nothing insightful to say and are just repeating the same few surface-level takes ad infinitum without adding anything new or interesting to the discussion. The fact that you've decided to be a complete faggot in response to me has only served to validate the feelings I already held. If you're so insistent on being a faggot about this then take that shit to Reddit where it belongs. I hope you have fun rolling in your own shit because I'm not going to entertain this discussion any further.

Saw something somewhere that speculated they're being directed via the original Japanese script and delivery. It sounds a bit like cope, but it's a better guess than nothing.
As someone who's actually played the original Japanese one, they're full of shit. The Japanese voice acting and lines are just as peak and legendary as the English ones.

ANDOROFU-SAMAAAAAA!!!... GOMEN-CHAI!

Are there any other good on-rails shooters in the style of Star Fox? I realized that I can't think of any.

I also think that the soundtrack for the SNES game blows 64 out of the water, but the latter had voice acting so the music wasn't quite as important. The only music I really like from 64 is the mission clear and the Star Wolf theme.
Panzer Dragoon Orta comes the closest. The first couple of Panzer Dragoon games are kinda rough and barren though despite coming out on more powerful hardware.

If you want to go real heavy there was a Space Harrier sequel that no one has played since its arcade board would break if you moved the machine. I am not joking

Seriously someone play Planet Harriers and let me know if its good

Supposedly, the OG game had the Japanese script paint Fox as more polite and reserved, as the stereotypical Japanese slave/salaryman. Is this true? Does the remake keep the brash attitude for the weaboo language?

PD 1 and 2 have remakes that have the same issue as this remake of SF, in that they look good but lifeless.
Speaking of lifeless, here are the avatar characters in all of their hideous glory! Some more animated than others, and no surprises. Katt is the only female, no surprise Krystal.

The full holoviewer will come soon.

Oh, I forgot to mention that I greatly preferred Pigma's model in this to the one in 64. He looked like a pig robot in the original game.

EDIT: I should also note that I haven't played any Star Fox game that came out since Assault, which was pretty disappointing to me. The on-rails stages in that game were fine, though.

In every game outside of Assault Pigma's shadow over the arch of his eyes is way too pronounced and it looks like he's wearing a bandit mask. I wish the lighting in his cockpit emphasized a shadow over his eyes as an allusion to that, but in general this is one of the best best looking characters in the game. I guess the art style is at its best when it's rendering fat greasy disgusting pigs

first time I'm seeing these vtubers sticking their tongues out, a couple of which are cursed

1782681258456.png

Real frogs to have thin tongues and all but it feels so offputting for Slippy's to be like this, I would've pictured it to be like a wider cartoon tongue that fits his wide face shape.

1782681428644.png

Leon's is pretty scary but it suits him really well. Star Wolf's redesigns are the very best because the uncanniness works best for characters that're meant to be offputting

1782681108811.png

while Katt's tongue just looks like a normal cat's, the video accidentally(?) makes her do an ahegao face that's going to haunt my nightmares. Just the fact that this vtuber cam has an adjustable tongue makes it obvious that furfags are going to goon to this shit. All the other characters have tongues that are just whatever, all the canine characters just look like normal ass dogs. Especially Bill who literally doesn't even look like a furry, just a dog with a helmet

1782681887561.png
I didn't consider faces for stuff like Andross's fake android form, this is fucking great. Probably what I'd use if I gave a shit about NSO's gay ass webcam bullshit.

1782682036081.png
No tongue but including Vulcain is cool as hell. Besides the fake Andross I shared, his is the only one that wasn't an actual transmission talking head. There isn't one of the Titania boss or the Aquas one because they don't really have mouths

All the various bosses with transmission portraits are included but their designs are all boring and don't have the charm of their 64 counterparts. I hope you all enjoyed my review of vtuber furry tongues, I'm gonna go kill myself now

slippy looks like an ue5 lizard tongue or some shit and not the cartoony frog tongue most slippy appearances where his tongue is visible have which makes it look all the more worse because he's like the one character in star fox that's basically the same as every other game but put through weird gross ue5 texturing.

I'm surprised that with the "realism" look this game's going for leon still has the huge anime villain eyes from the post-adventures era instead of the realistic chameleon eyes he had in 64.

In every game outside of Assault Pigma's shadow over the arch of his eyes is way too pronounced and it looks like he's wearing a bandit mask.
That's intentional stylization that carries over into a lot of other minor characters like the train conductor who was kinda butchered in this game mentioned earlier.

It's fun because it's STAR FOX 64. The issue comes with the fact that it's a remake of a 30+ year old game you get for free with the premium version of the online service, and somehow has worse presentation and audio. It's actually one of the few switch 2 games I've thought about getting due to it being cheaper than most and having a multiplayer mode but it doesn't change the fact there's weird shit like the UE5 lighting making stages way too dark in some instances and weird dialogue changes in the english version.

Kinda amusing how the characters who are meant to be intentionally hideous or at least startling... Do look good in an engine that by default makes people look hideous and/ startling.

His default expression is unintentionally intense due to how his eyes look uncanny, as if he was one step away from braining you with a drill. Which it's understandable when he lives with Star Fox and everyone shits on his piloting.
