According to the Reddit thread and other sources*, there will some actual, interesting new content in this re-remake! Lore dumps! For extra hilarity, the Jap version seems to have stuff that's not included in the English version, be it due to stuff being lost during translation or politics (what kind of politics are in Star Fox? Please don't make Andross the orange man...). For example, it has info about James Fox forming Star Fox because he was fed up with the regs of Corneria, which is a very military-focused society, surprisingly enough. The idea of seeing a furry idealistic version of the Federation from Starship Troopers is hilarious.

*Which is utter fail, as you would expect. It seems the consensus from nu-Katt is that she's better now, despite looking like an androgynous junkie BEFORE she joined a gang, because the previous versions were bad because muh male gaze or something. Sigh, so much soy...

It makes sense. If you're a space-faring civilization, you need a strong military arm at least. Otherwise, you risk your planet/s to be threatened by the first passing pirate with a dinky ship *glares at Disney Star Wars*.

It would be weird if there were no new content. Even little things like the lore dumps you mentioned.

What, you mean that the multiplayer, the Cutting Edge Graphics (TM) and the last-minute gameplay challenges aren't enough to buy the same game again? Soyny got away with remaking the Last of Us twice, with no new content to speak of.

Here's the mention of database:

Found this on the Japanese website for Star Fox '26. Here is what it says translated (Keep in mind this is AI-translated so it might not be fully accurate 😬):

“Holo Memo” lets you view data on characters, machines, planets, enemies, and more.
As you progress through the game, more information is added.
It also contains information that was never revealed in previous entries in the series.

Fox McCloud

  • Affiliation: Star Fox
  • Role: Current Leader
  • Age: 18

Detailed Information:

The new leader of Star Fox, and a talented pilot.

His former comrades once became enemies of the army, but they appointed Fox as the new leader and, together with new members, formed the new Star Fox team.

Wonder if that will be used in future games, if any.

2007 called, Bioware says that they want the Mass Effect Codex returned once Nintendo is done borrowing it.

Star Fox 64 Remake is to furries what Hogwarts Legacy was to troons
Wow, it's almost like different people can gravitate towards the same piece of media for vastly different reasons, Who'da thunk? I've already come to the conclusion that I'm the odd one out in this thread in terms of what makes me a Star Fox fan, and you know what? That's fine! If y'all are just interested in having a game to play and don't care about any substance beyond that, more power to ya! How you choose to enjoy a piece of media is none of my business, every person's experience is uniquely their own and there's nothing wrong with that. Likewise, my enjoyment of Star Fox comes from a completely different place than yours and the direction Nintendo's taking it in simply isn't for me. If we can politely agree to disagree at this point and move on with our lives, I'd be more than willing to leave it at that. I'm done here either way.

Outside of being controversial I don't see many parallels to be honest.

The more you know. I still think it doesn't sound good but hey, I stand corrected.

Look, I will give the guy all the credit in the world for doing what he's done. This is an amazing amount of work for a single dev doing it as a passion project. But with that said I can't pretend that it looks good in the grand scheme.
I already mentioend it here but interestingly enough Jock Blaney who voiced Bill and Wolf in SF64 also reprised his role in EH and even came up with Wolf stealing Fara from Fox, though he unfortunaly passed away recently. Also Matthew Gafford vioces Andross. And it should be notet that due to the amount of voice work many actors aren't really directed by the main dev much because he just doesn't has that much time, for instance Estelle Ellis apparently just records must of her voives on her own, like the ones used for the current WIP version of that cutscene.

And regarding the graphics since, well lots of stuff looks rough it should be noted that many of the actual model renders look better than in game, admittably the engine is very old and not really made for half the stuff that is going on in this mod so apparently graphic wise it will only go so far,
Andross.webp

Really impressive what the fans are doing. Meanwhile, the 2026 remake is looking "meh". Here's some more new gameplay:

Looks like SF64 to me man. I don't know what you're talking about with the gameplay. The cutscenes look like they could be dodgy but you can just skip thoses and frankly I think that the new difficulty selector, challenge mode, and multiplayer all look pretty decent. Still not worth buying a Switch 2 over but if Nintendo ever ported it (hahahahahahaha like that'll ever happen) I'd drop sixty bucks on it.

I agree with you. But hear me out.

You have to start with yet another Star Fox/64 remake to get your foot in the door with a new fanbase. The old guys are hyped and the younger guys are interested and kids will want to know what game that cool guy from the movie is in. Star Fox is a simple remake with lots of upsides and low risk.

We will get our new Star Fox game once this remake is a hit. And it will be. The next game may already be in the works based off the pre-release hype for the remake. And if the footage of the game is anything to go by, maybe Nintendo have finally figured out that they don't need to overthink Star Fox.

I do understand what you're trying to say, and it makes sense from a business standpoint. But i still don't like it, "You have to buy yet another remake of SF64, and maybe, MAYBE in five to ten years you will get a Starfox game you might actually want to play", it sucks man.

Honestly, I'm just fine letting it die if given a choice like that. If they can't make a remake I'd want to play despite loving the original, then I don't see why I would trust them to make a new game I'd want to play.

Yeah it isn't great. Star Fox/64 is literally in my top five favorite games, so I mind it less. But I am not the average customer.

Its in moments like this I am almost kind of glad Krystal didnt appear in this series since

Holy shit, 2006?!
