This thread is for posting and discussing pieces of music that make you feel calm, nostalgic, and a sense of inner-peace among other things.

One piece of music I came across fairly recently that fits this description is a track from an obscure Japanese visual novel called "Doko e Iku no, Ano Hi" released in 2004 for the PC / PS2. This track is titled Outer Planet by ave;new.
Pair this track with the beautiful early 2000s anime cover art and I feel a sense of "ethereal nostalgia" (I'm not sure how else to describe it) like no other.

Another example is the track "LEASE" by Takeshi Abo from another obscure Japanese visual novel called My Merry May released in 2002 for the Dreamcast / PS2, commonly associated with the old Frutiger Aero aesthetic today.

I can't get enough of this stuff.

Waterflame's early stuff that marries breakbeat/EDM with orchestral elements puts me in awe. A lot of his songs also use samples of speech and vocals that were mangled deliberately into gibberish.
Also, while I did not grow up playing Roblox I learned about this song by osmosis and it always struck a chord with me.
While some might not find this music relaxing, it leaves me feeling at peace with the world. It's hard to describe, like it is instilling a childlike sense of adventure in me at the true scope of the world and how all-encompassing it is.

I have noted down thousands of categorized songs/music I like, and I must have dozens that would apply for this criteria (in this case it will be relaxing with a certain "atmosphere"). I don't think I'll post all, but here are some:

I can seriously be here all day, but I'll stop.

Stan Lepard's Velkommen is another example of what I'd call "soulful" music. It was originally made for use with the 1996 Internet Explorer Starter Kit software bundle, but was reused with a new mix as the installation music for Windows XP in 2001 as 'title.wma', which is what most people remember it for.

There are many songs that make me feel nostalgic, here are a few with a more ethereal quality.
And warm.
There's a song by Common Filth that I can't find since he nuked most of his accounts. It's ~10-12 years old and a kind of smooth jazz ambient song, with a gibberish furniture title I can't quite remember. Not exactly v, but something like them.

If you cannot find inner peace just listening to this you need Xanax like the desert needs the rain. The movie was very underrated as well.
GATTACA "the departed"

The Kronos Quartet "Lux Aterna"
An amazing song used frequently but, rarely ever identified in many films. Best known as the song at the end of "Requiem for a Dream" which is a movie so beautiful and ugly it will make you cry and vomit before the credits roll. It hits me very hard because I probably should be dead and I've known a handful of people who took too much and simply never woke up.

Mazzy Star was just so underrated imho.

I always wished that automats were still a thing.

Not what I wanted to post initially but seeing where this goes, it fits perfectly:

German Big Band sound - for those weimar feels:

My severe weebism somehow lead me to actually enjoying this very much but for many it's an acquired taste I'm sure:

Take it straight from fellow Shakuhachi enjoyers:
"A foolish man complains of his torn pocket, while a wise man uses it to scratch his balls…”

The chick who sung that japanese song from Kill Bill:

That concludes my narcissism posting. Good thread so far. Keep 'em coming.

Playing Rimworld again, I forgot how excellent its soundtrack is. Fills me with the same sense of naturalistic happiness the game itself does.
