This is both funny and horrifying. Even for playing couch co-op you still have to pay and if your buddy who has touched a game in decades or doesnt have a psn account youre shit out of luck. This is so fucking retarded it hurts. I wonder how will the sony cucks will defend this
They'll say it was Microsoft's decision and Sony had no choice. While that's probably the case for online play, I find it very difficult to believe that Sony had no choice for offline play. I am assuming here that Microsoft accounts cost money like PS+, but I have never owned an Xbox.

Sony is requiring that to play COUCH CO-OP for the new Halo remaster, both players must have their own PlayStation plus accounts

This company, I swear to God. Every time we think they can't get any stupider, they tell us to hold their beer...

Y'know what, I hope Playstation gets spun off into being its own company one day. Solely to see if they can keep being retarded longer than they can stay solvent...

Playstation is profitable, they don't need papa Sony to keep them afloat. Of course, Playstation likely gains a lot of benefit from being part of Sony, but I highly doubt that amounts to make-or-break levels of benefit.

Not as much as this would suggest. They're somewhat notorious for shifting costs associated with whatever division they're trying to puff up to other divisions. For a big example, obviously, bungie (and their other recent acquisitions) have been entirely for playstation, but you won't find a penny of the $3.6 billion they spent on bungie under playstation. Advertising budgets are another big one that often gets shifted outside of playstation itself.

Fucking lul. I'm seeing Sony Fanboys over on my actual Socials trying to blame the Couch Co-Op PSN Requirement on "needing to link to a Microsoft account". They're full stop just trying to pin this all on Microsoft.

It's funny as hell seeing that level of coping being told to fuck off.

Halo studios have come out to state that players will need individual PlayStation accounts, not paid PS + subscriptions for couch co-op

It's still super surreal seeing official Halo stuff on PlayStation. It doesn't feel right tbh.
I actually don’t think it’s a bad strategy to potentially throw a bone with a traditional exclusive IP as essentially an advertisement; “hey PlayStation gamer, if you liked this and want more of this world and content you’ll have to buy an Xbox for the future titles”… the key to this working is that the games are actually good… so not super confident the strat will work :story:

This is exactly why Sony put their games on steam until they realized that the PC gamers weren't going to flock over to PS5

Either the guy who wrote that Q&A is so retarded that he didn't realize PS+ is a subscription service, or this is a backtrack because Sony didn't realize it would make them look bad.

I'm not so sure that they've stopped porting games to PC, they might have just switched to a timed exclusive strategy like they did with Spiderman 2, ported to PC after a year and a half. Of course, the reality of these ports is that they didn't really help, PS 1st party game sales went down this gen, excluding 2020.

Kinda figured it was a miscommunication, which is why I didn't really weigh in on it. Crazy that our standards are so low that both people needing accounts for split screen couch co-op play is seen as an "acceptable compromise".
almost makes you think they miscommunicated on purpose to relieve people with "oh at least we don't have to PAY for both accounts...."

I believe Sony claimed a lack of sales on PC as the reason they pulled out. Now dear user I ask you: What were they expecting?
Looking past their lack of games, their PC ports were notoriously rushed dogshit with every release. Almost every timed exclusive game that was released was a trainwreck and they did fuck all to advertise them. Most of these games that got released on PC were 2 years old and nobody gave a fuck about them, hell nobody gave a fuck about them when they were originally released. Even logistically speaking there is literally zero reason for anyone with even a low tier rig to own a console or buy their games when they don't run. Even looking at their catalogue now the only game I could see myself getting is Ghost of Tsushima when it goes like 50% off. Sony wanted to blame those dastardly PC players but the sad reality is that no-one gives a fuck about their faggotslop games, not even PS5 owners.

The PS5 had a false start due to Covid and was supply constrained for 3 years (and most of the consoles sold at that time probably collected dust in a scalper warehouse), Sony was expecting that the games would reach their deserved level of success when they were opened up to the larger gaming audience on PC. Of course, they were correct, Sony just didn't realize that they were intentionally making bad games.

Say what you will about the games themselves, but the ports made by Nixxes were some of the best there are. The only ones that people bitched about were the pair for Last of Us 1/2, and I'm sure that had to do with Kikemann's faggotry.
