From my experience, it's really not an uncommon thing. PS5 is a netflix box, an annual sports slop box, and a live service slop box. Not really surprising that software sales are so abysmally low when the people making and buying it just aren't interested in games.

The pivot sony and microsoft have made to mainly advertisng consoles as shitty streaming boxes is really whats gonna end up killing them honestly, It's cheaper to buy a brand new 65 inch smart TV that can already stream whatever the fuck you want than it is buying a PS5.

Even better is to buy one of those, never connect it to the network (they leak data like a sieve), treat it like a dumb TV and plug in a little Raspberry Pi, ODROID, or whatever similar little gadget running CoreELEC and Kodi into the HDMI port to play whatever you want on it.

And I believe Sony is showing its hand. They're willing to put things on multiple platforms but they want you to check in for their metrics.
