Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was able to set a tone that expertly balanced comedy, a wimpy bitch of a protagonist, a larger-than-life world and action set-pieces. I think that tone would work for One Piece Man.

However, I don't think there's a director alive who can do for One Piece Man what Edgar Wright did for Scott Pilgrim.

Scott Pilgrim, in all forms, is shit.

A webcomic/manga like One Punch Man wouldn't translate well into a live action film at all. I have a feeling it's going to be similar to Dragonball Evolution and The Last Airbender as well.

Any ideas on how exactly they're going to try and cast some of these characters? Imo, they'll probably cut out Dark Shine and Puri Puri Prisoner. I'd imagine that a homosexual rapist exhibitionist hero would be a hard sell.

A better question is, what are they gonna do with the story?

Like, the actual overarching story of OPM doesn’t really kick in until the Monster Association/Garou arc. Everything before that is just slow character/world building that doesn’t fit in a 90 minute movie.

If I had to guess, I think Act 1 would be your typical origin story crap ending with the mosquito fight, leading into Act 2’s confrontation with the House of Evolution. It would end with Saitama and Genos walking out of the ruins of the House of Evolution only to see a massive spaceship hanging over the city, leading us directly into an Act 3 with Boros as the main villain (as he’s the first villain who actually has some ideological/emotional connection to Saitama).
