My #1 guess it's going to be a very boring movie.

Nintendo's western branch is neutered to hell and back and it's the main reason why nintendo hasn't been able to really compete in the west since the n64. They get no input on what's appealing to americans.

That makes sense. Though I would have chosen something more upbeat to drive home the "dumb fun" angle of the movie. But then again, Gangsta's Paradise is such a ridiculous choice that it works in self-parody, so what do I know

I'm pretty happy to see 90's-style Jim Carrey, too. Maybe we'll get a scene where Robotnik talks out of his butt Ace Ventura style to really drive it home.

I can't wait to see this retarded pile of shit. November 2019, right? What a perfect movie to wrap up such a hyperbolic, stupid, ridiculous clown world decade.
 
Chris will swear black and blue that he won't see the film, but he will see it opening night and more than once and he will start to incorporate elements from the film into his own fantasies.

Reminds me of Sonic Boom, Chris hated the blarms, but he still watched the Boom tv show and bought both the games based on it.
 
I don't know how people here make fun of Chris for sperging out over a movie when there's 4 pages of people doing just that, right here.
 
I had a slow-in-the-minds moment and didn't even realize Jim Carrey was playing Robotnik until the end; I thought they just brought him in to play some generic douchebag and then devoted 40 seconds of the trailer to him instead of Sonic because that's the kind of movie this is going to be.

In any case, this is going to be a big fucking beautiful disaster and I can't wait until Chris either goes on a twitter rant or starts seeing the characters in Target.

It's also important to remember that people are going to dislike this simply because it's Sonic and it's popular to hate on him. Some people like Sonic, some people like Jimbotnik-- whatever your opinion is, take the time to look at the movie in an objective light, and not because you just want to be apart of the bandwagon. I knew it wasn't gonna look amazing, so I went in with an open mind. You can even tell where they put in effort on the whole thing.

After rewatching the trailer like 4 more times, its kind of grown on me.
I'm gonna enjoy the movie for what it is and not what it represents. It's gonna be a fun romp through a what if scenario and we'll get to see something different. It's not what we wanted, or what others wanted, and it could have been better, but it could be much worse, and im gonna go see it and a good time, I think. Sonic managed to look cute and fine in some new promotional material, (obviously the scene where he gets tranq'd looks godawful) and I'll be interested to see how they make this origin in comparison to the others.

Also, there's already porn of Movie Sonic, so that article about furries not wanting him is patently false, but then again, who can even trust furries at this point?

If you enjoy it good on you, but to say people are going to shit on it just because it's Sonic is fucking re.tarded. I don't give a shit about sonic one way or another, but that trailer was a goddamn dumpster fire. I barely made it through watching it once. Sonic looks fucking terrible, James Marsden is a shitty actor (I've hated him since the original X-men movie, and thought the only redeeming part of "The last stand" is that he died almost immediately.), and it seems like someone saw the Quicksilver scenes in Days of Future past and Apocalypse and thought "that's cool lets put sonic in that and call it a day." The only slightly redeeming part was Jim Carrey, and that was because he was acting like classic Jim Carrey and not sad modern Jim Carrey. Hell I'll go so far as to say it's the other way around. The few people who enjoy it unironically will be because it's Sonic.

On topic we all know Chris is gonna throw temper tantrums, claim Sonic says it's a terrible travesty and needs to be completely redone despite it being ready for release. Then it'll come out and he'll see it 20 times and buy every piece of merchandise. Chris is incapable of being critical of anything he enjoys after having consumed the media. It could be stick figures of the characters voiced by cheap AI and he would love it.

If this doesn't set Chris off then nothing will. Sega totally ripped off of his idea and gave him blue arms to boot. All he needed was a pikachu tail and he be Sonichu. Turnabout is fair play and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

The only thing close to lightning powers he had, was that double jump he had in Sonic 3.
 
Using Coolio's Gangasta's Paradise and Jim Carrey pretty much encapsulates their problem here. The time to do a live action Sonic movie was back in '95 when all those things were still cool. Fucking Coolio is so big right now that not only did the crowd part like the red sea when he tried to do a stage dive at a show a few years back, but they took his shoes and bling after he fell.
