I really hate that IDW has turned Tangle into just an accessory for Whisper. Literally the best of the endless queer and cunty ocs forced into the canon, who actually feels like an actual character that could of existed in the satam era, and is sentenced to forever just be present in the background as trauma the wolf cries about muh squad for the 20th issue.
Tangle's stretchy tail powers use the same cartoon logic as what some classic era characters (like tails and knuckles) used to have as opposed to the more modern "super special traumatised OP" oc approach, so she's got a certain timelessness to her that the others don't have. If only her voice wasn't so annoying!

I don't dislike Whisper as much as other people here, but her entire character revolving around trauma is frustrating since this causes everyone around her to revolve around her, too.

I'd actually say CD was the only good implementation, since it made the poorly implemented time-travel easier to deal with.
That wasn't poor implementation, it's an intentional feature. You're supposed to try and find a good spot to do the time travel shit instead of just mindlessly wasting it.It's one of those "the game is short so the replay value comes from finding different routes and remembering where shit is" kind of games.

I can't believe knuckles was cucked by a bald nigga
Back when Sanic could pretend to be cool and not melodramatic! And be chubby instead of thin.
He wasn't really chubby, his torso was a ball because he's based on rubber hose cartoon characters.

I know of one perfect spot

It's called the "getting 50 rings to kill the UFOs to get all the time stones" spot that says fuck all of that nonsense.
It's great that they have multiple different methods to get the good ending, something games don't do too often.

I never liked Tangle, I found her annoying, pushy and ugly, but I agree she could have been one pre-reboot Archie character, probably by bumping off Mina and setting up someone less annoying. Alas, that was not meant to be.

The best part is that not only it's her only character trait, she's never going to get over it as she sure as well won't kill Eggman, Sega would never allow it. Sure, she killed Mimic, for what's worth, but I dunno if that will change anything. Also, she's the only one traumatized despite the E-Man having made orphan hundreds of people, then there's Tails who fought an army that firebombed his island, fought Eggman for ages, and is quite chill. Or Cream having lost her mom temporarily to zombies and getting over it quickly.

I think he's meant to be chubby. Sonic Generations even made fun of that before Flynn felt identified and retconned it, because muh chubby-phobia or something.

Isn't Knuckles considered to be a honorary nig by wokes? So he was cucked by a white man, for extra cuckery.

Feeling old yet?

You know what's funny? I remember SA2 Battle being a bigger deal than the original, mainly because it was the first sonic console game on a Nintendo platform (with Advance being the first handheld game on a Nintendo handheld).

It also didn't help that the original came out near the dreamcast's death and sega's death in the console market.

Yes, and to think i just beat Sonic Adventure DX for the first time, for all the flak both Adventure games got in the 2010's, i was expecting something truly unplayable, but i actually had fun with it, only gameplay style i didn't like was Amy's but other than that, i had a good time playing that game, maybe in a couple days i will get to play SA2.

Most of the flak came from Egoraptor tbh. I still hold both Adventure titles (+ Heroes) in high regard and enjoy revisiting them from time to time. Even the Shadow game I don't think is as bad as people have made it out to be. And lastly, 06 is just a guilty pleasure of mine.

I am so fucking sick of seeing this dogshit UE5 Asset Flip. Sonic fans want to act like they're so picky about what they like but when someone just mindlessly throws a bunch of decades old assets (couldn't even be bothered to use newer assets from Generations when possible either) into Unreal and makes everything twice as wide they begin clapping like retarded seals.

and makes everything twice as wide
This is more of a sin when they do this in 2D games. I don't get the people that are like "waaaaaaah 4:3 you can't see where you're going" and the only things that immediately come to mind are "Skill Issue"' and "git gud".

You can only complain about this if you're talking about Master System games ported to Game Gear because yes, those are a visual downgrade because the pov was shrunken on purpose to fit in that tiny-ass screen. Otherwise it would be a "are these games made for ants???" situation.

I was talking to someone the other day and it dawned on me that Freedom Planet, at least storywise, is literally everything the IDW comic and Sonic's stories have been trying to achieve for years. It even has lesbians and melodrama.

I think that the first Sonic Adventure hasn't held up as well as SA2 but it's still playable. I prefer the Dreamcast version over DX though, because slapping SA2's models into SA1 actually made it look worse, among other small issues. The Steam version is still also locked to 4:3 with a border unless you mod it I'm pretty sure, which continues to make the camera the biggest enemy of Sonic Adventure/2.

I wasn't talking about the aspect ratio, I was talking about the roads being twice as wide due to Sonic controlling like utter dogshit in this remake. Instead of actually fine-tuning the controls, whoever made it just made the roads twice as large as a Band-Aid solution.

I grew up with the GameCube versions, but I have heard that the Dreamcast versions are better, mainly in the case of SA 1.

The move away from SA's "play whichever arc you want" to "you must now play this gamestyle to progress" was a huge regression for me, so I'll never prefer SA2.

In practice, when you're going at high speed, you need to know where you're going anyhow. One of the big flaws of Sonic the 2D platformer is that a "fast" main character doesn't combine well with the restricted viewport of 2D consoles. I beat Sonic 1 GG on original hardware back in the day, and realistically, the limited viewport wasn't anywhere as big a deal as a lot of folks make it out to be. You need to know the level layout, same as in the 16-bit versions.

there is a bit of jank in the controls of SA1, doesn't matter if it's Dreamcast or GameCube/PC

This one example in particular stands out to me the most.

Regardless of why you would want to go slow on this part in the first place, something like this shouldn't even happen at all. In the GameCube version it's even worse because you CAN get clipped out of the wall and fall straight into the water before you reach the boost pad. You can tell that the devs really relied on those "automated" sections... otherwise you wouldn't have sonic being sucked into the boost pad like a vacuum. Sonic should be able to use his own momentum to move fast rather than have any sort of "help" from the engine (this doesn't include things like Bumper Pads, which their sole purpose is to make Sonic go faster in a specific direction). This is how it was in the 2D games, and I fail to see how an additional dimension would make this impossible for Sonic to do on his own.

So did I, but I can see where the complaints are coming from, especially from a collectivist/completionist perspective when the MS/GG games require you to go Emerald Hunting instead of doing the whole Special Stage thing. In the Master System versions they are manageable, but in the Game Gear version you have no choice but to take leaps of faith that sometimes WILL kill you on a fresh new play, and that really isn't a good design philosophy in general.

Really says a lot how an GameCube game had better lighting than lighting than the shit that's going on with Eggman's segments
