Signed up for the newsletter (again) so I could try my hand at the closed network test. Here’s hoping!!
Apologies for mobilefagging, but on the Steam(?) page, it says Crossworlds is being developed by Sonic Team and not Sumo Digital, the studio behind the All Stars Racers and TSR. If that’s the case, I’m very interested in seeing how this ends up. I think the last Sonic racing game made by ST proper was… Free Riders?
 
I think that's the idea^. There should be a new mainline game soon, hopefully. This racing game is clearly "filler". On the other hand, what other studios would you trust with making a Sonic game? Bioware? Lol. Team Sonic made that mistake once and will never do so again.

Sonic Team doesn't make the racing games, that's typically Sumo Digital. Then you have other studios like HARDLIGHT who handle the mobile side of the franchise. The main team is working on the next 3D title right now.

This but instead of recasting one of the few good voice actors we recast the shit ones like the current ones for Knuckles and Silver

EDIT: Guess I’ll be passing on the network test, I’m not spending 500 bucks on a GayStation to play a Sonic racing game early

I do wonder how Crossworld will fare? It looks like it has a lot of cool ideas so far, and hopefully that closed network test will allow people to provide decent feedback.

Hopefully not. It’s cope in its highest form, but I think of Free Riders being SEGA’s attempt to cash in on the Kinect craze and once it flopped hard, they just went, “Yeaaaaah no.”
With Crossworlds being an actual game, I do have some faith in ST to make it at least decent.

The developers behind Initial D the Arcade, the latest entry in SEGA's long line of Initial D Arcade racers, are involved in the development of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds.

I've been getting tired of Mike's shit on Twitter for a while now. He's not that good of a voice actor that he can't be replaced, there's been many VA's for Robotnik over the years. Honestly, he's lucky that SEGA hasn't dropped him long before now.
