I finally rented this and it's not bad..11 year old me would want a vhs of it and force it on aunts and uncles every holiday. And there's be a new Sega Genesis tie-in I'd also buy.
 
This film was fun to watch! I’m glad they did fix some parts of the film and it’s a movie I’d watch with family.

Given the amount of stuff made with the ugly design, it seems very very unlikely.

Real question now is what studio's going to take over since Moving Picture Company closed down? Hopefully (most of) the animators will still be able to carry over to the sequel, they honestly did a wonderful job.
 
Sonic 2 is scheduled to drop on April 8, 2022 (a).

Along with Thursday’s announcement, the studio also set “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” a follow-up to this year’s box office smash, to open on April 8, 2022. Other changes to the calendar include a new “Jackass” film (from July 2021 to Sept. 3, 2021), “Under the Boardwalk” (July 22, 2022) and “The Tiger’s Apprentice” (from Feb. 11, 2022, to Feb. 10, 2023).

According to the lead designer for the movie, the Echidna who killed Sonic's ugly owl mom was the same old echidna dude from Sonic Adventures who unleashed Chaos. Does that mean the next movie will be about Chaos or what?

So we're going to go balls-to-the-wall Sonic Adventure for the sequel, then? Hell yeah.

I think most people would expect to see Shadow in the sequel, but it's best to save him for a third film (if they're going to make more). Metal Sonic would make for an excellent secondary antagonist, though if they're going for Chaos, that's totally fine by me.

I think Shadow will appear in a post-credits scene in this one.

If they make a third one, he'll probably be the main villain with Rouge the Bat probably acting as a secondary antagonist or a wild card.
 
My boy Knux looking swole af. They're doing a solid job with the designs now that they've found their footing.
