I just saw it. It was pretty okay and Jim Carrey gave his best performance in YEARS. Best part of the movie imo. Honestly his performance may even be oscar worthy. Everything else was standard science fiction action fare. Nothing particularly ground breaking but competent enough. Plenty of good sonic references for the fans, including an internet autism scribble. Am I blown away by it? Not really. But I am intrigued how it opens the door to a video game cinematic universe. Unlike every other shameless attempt to push something like this I could actually get on board with this idea.

Weird to see Hollywood change it's vision based on feedback. I can't even fucking imagine what the PR department for Paramount went through to get them to do it.
Still, they followed through and made a profit. Good for them. Hopefully other filmmakers will take a hint from this.

I feel the need to cover Bob Chipman's meltdown over this movie since it's a thing of beauty.
Let's journey to the past, where Bobbert delivered a tweet that aged like shit on a hot day:
Cut to later and we have some incandescent nerd rage:
Bobby was not happy, and he got absolutely butt-fucked in his own twitter thread:
All of this led to Bobby's bitter, hate-fueled bitch-fest about the Sonic movie in which he gave it 2/10, essentially because Paramount bent the knee to the fans.
Good times.
Having seen the movie, it was all right. There's a ton of jokes and references to various sega properties throughout, a Sanic joke in it that legitimately had me laugh my ass off in the theatre because I wasn't expecting it, and uniquely because we haven't seen it in years, Jim Carrey in his element. He was clearly having fun with the role for a change, and I had forgotten how good he could be in such a role.

Well, based on that amount of rage along with that video review of his, I’m sure that in about a week or two, Dobson will be ranting just as hard.
Honestly, did anyone expect it would be the Sonic haters that would be having such a massive ragefit when this movie came out?

I gotta be honest about this... I liked it more than I should. I cannot quell my inner Sonic tard. Now there are things I didn't like, such as Sonic nonchalantly letting cars get blown out by Eggman that most likely had people in them, but it's not enough to ruin the film.

Reading these remind me of my old times during my teenagehood reading autistic sonic lore in the mid 2000s , I forgot how much I enjoyed doing that.
Recently I discovered that the echidnas foretold the existence of Blaze and it blew my mind, sonic has so much fun autistic deep lore I can only wonder why sega doesn't release some novelizations.

Just got back from watching it.
It was honestly better than it has any right to be. It is something I would watch again, which is saying more than most movies I have seen in the past decade.
