Were there people actually hoping the story, that they didn't know, was going to be changed too?

i guess this idiot doesn't realize that by actually listening to fans and making changes, the movie got a lot of goodwill
considering every other movie nowadays has little skin tags that pretend to be humans screaming "THIS MOVIE ISNT FOR YOU" and "FUCK CANON, FUCK THE FANS!" attached to it....

>TFW the team behind the fucking sonic movie are somehow the least autistic people in the movie industry

Didn’t see the movie yet, but are they going to put Tails and Knuckles in the sequel?
It’d be funny if they did.
Seeing as how the tribal echidnas and mushroom zone appear they might adapt sonic adventure/sonic 3 & knuckles featuring dante from the dmc series

Watched this movie with pretty much zero knowledge of Sonic, and it was a legitimately solid movie. It focused on characterization and interactions first and left the video game shit as bonus references for people who got them. Character writing was good, the contrast between Robotnik and the main character was good, and the theme of a stuck-up urban elite looking down on normal people fit really well with the plot and was a nice theme tying the story together, especially with the main character deciding to live in his small town at the end of the movie.

I think this and Detective Pikachu show that the key to making a good video game movie is to make a good movie containing references to the games rather than trying to actually adapt a video game straight.

I thought it was pretty disappointing, but I was hoping it would be so bad that it's good. Like that the psychic energy of Sanic, Shadow the Hedgehog, Coldsteel, and Sonic '06 would curse the production process.

I bet this dude rages hard every time a badly written Fast & Furious movie breaks records set by previous Fast & Furious movies.

"BUT THEY'RE DUMB YOU FUCKING SLOBS!"
They somehow get less dumb the longer they go on. "This is a James Bond style action series" means you should have over the top action set pieces vs "This is an undercover cop story" that the first one was.

That Holmes and Shaw spin-off they did was pretty fun too. And I’m not even really in to the Fast and Furious films.

I wanna see this. I'm thinking it'll be in the so bad it's good territory. Jim Carrey can at least be entertaining if nothing else. Definitely gonna wait a minute though to let the parents and their kids clear out though. It seemed weird at first but I think releasing it mid-week was a good idea. It gives all the Sonic autists/furries a chance to get in without concerned moms eyeballing them. They know their audience.

It's not. It's in the so-okay-it's-unmemorable territory.

I saw the movie today. It wasn’t bad, just an average kids movie. I was too old to see it, maybe if I was seven I would have loved it. Jim Carey was a highlight and it was a return to form for him.

However, I felt like this movie felt a little too rushed in length, maybe a extra five or ten minutes may have been better and some of the characters lack development. But all in all, the movie got the job down. 6/10

That movie inspired me to actually watch the series, like the first 4 are just sorta boring, after the "Reboot" they sort of embraced the Action stuff, brought in Staham and The Rock and they started to become surprisingly fun watches.

Apparently the woketards have their marching orders to hate it. FilmRobert also is freaking out about it.
They are trained to ree and screetch at anything that doesn't immediately parrot woke orange man bad mantra like some Soviet propaganda machine. Even if it's a dumb or average/harmless kids film.

Ironic coming from the side of history supposedly on the side of "individuality" and "counter culture"

Thunkful Hollywood Reporter piece on whether or not fans should get what they want, or the artists should soldier on in their original vision, in these kinds of situations.
