Nice dick POV. Is that a ring tied to one of his shoes?

Also, it took me a bit to realize that the blue, glowing squiggles were supposed to be his streak, not some weird photographic or lighting artifact or a misprint. Not a good poster design if one or more elements look like printing errors if you ask me.

Something about his shoes kept rubbing me the wrong way, but looking at it now, I think I know what it is. The realistic legs clash heavily with the cartoonishly big feet. In the games, Sonic's legs are really skinny compared to his feet, but it looked okay thanks to the cartoony artstyle. This just looks weird and gross, with the realistically proportioned legs going down into feet that are too large for them.

Regardless of whether this is real, Sonic's gonna be a real ugly motherfucker.

You know, I was listening to the SuperBestFriendcast, and they were theorizing what the plot of the movie was gonna be based on that original teaser image.

Essentially, they said that there’s going to be a human teenager named Miles Prowler(because reference!) who’s a star track runner. He’s in fact so good at running track, he gets a nickname because he’s so fat it’s like he’s going superSonic. But then some kind of experiment goes wrong or he comes into contact with an odd ring(not a magic ring, but like the old finger of a dead family member)or something and he gets mutated into a weird human/hedgehog hybrid thing.

I’m butchering the segment obviously, but after hearing that and then seeing this? Yikes....

Having word salad as the tagline says it all, really, like what the fuck even is "speed of hero"? It's something you'd expect from an anime, not American.

I'm seriously starting to consider making a full-fledged apology to Sonic X of all things, and I really don't want to admit that was even remotely tolerable. Hell, the premise alone feels like this is just Sonic X's first episode but taken into a different direction. It just doesn't help that Sonic appears to still be in the vicinity of landing in a movie star's pool for their kid to dive in and save him and practically cling to him forever.

Oh, and supposedly the budget of the film has been known for a while: $90 million.

It's embarrassingly obvious that the plot will devote a lot of time to human OCs alongside Eggman. Not only Officer Wachowski, but I imagine his coworkers, Eggman's superiors or subordinates if my guess on him working for/is in charge of a corporation or government agency like Robotnik Corp maybe GUN. The point being that they'll just be hoping that they (humans) can carry the picture with Sonic as the zany mascot and POSSIBLY Sonic's Shitty Friends there for fanservice.

No socks, which means he’s been running around with sweaty foot jank all day. I guess the foot fetishists are happy.

One of the worst things about this is how the “realistic proportions” they decided to add to Sonic in terms of muscles just makes him look like a naked blue man. Incredibly uncomfortable

But why? *sigh*

They've already nailed the art style a while ago, why not use it instead? Hyperrealism never works on cartoon characters.

How sad is it that Disney did a better job of portraying Sonic in Wreck It Ralph than this is going to?

So how much of a bomb will it be? 0 is a flop and 10 is a franchise killer
Sonic is a surprisingly resilient franchise. The series has survived multiple games that would have put practically any other series deep in the ground.

At worst the movie's just gonna be another big black stain on Sonic's tattered reputation, but at this point his reputation's already stained from Sonic 06 and Boom.

There's already a plot summary on Wikipedia.

"Small-town sheriff Tom Wachowski journeys to San Francisco to assist Sonic, a super fast anthropomorphic blue hedgehog, in his battle against the evil Dr. Ivo Robotnik."

Not much to go on but it sounds like they're trying to make Tom the main character, much like how the human characters in the Smurfs and Alvin and the Chipmunks were the "main characters" of those movies.

I've always hated it when movies do that. Bayformers was really terrible in that regard; if I'm going to watch a movie about the transformers, then make it about the transformers, not the stupid humans.

Assuming this is true, then this will just make the movie all the worse for it. No one's going to a Sonic movie to watch some human protagonist, they're going into it to see Sonic.
