I've never liked the argument that kids aren't intelligent enough to know what they like and dislike from media. It's hardly like choosing a vocation, I think we can trust them to say whether they think something is shit or not.

wait matt walsh AND moviebob have the same opinion on sonic 3 of pearlclutching that "Kids deserve better"? thats hilarious. but that channel sucks my farts
The ulterior motives is the biggest difference since Blob's dislike of Sonic 3 is genuine due to his hatred towards the Sonic franchise even being successful whereas Matt Walsh probably doesn't give a shit but knows he has to keep up with pop culture for his grift as the concerned conservative father.

I saw the movie today.

It was fucking awesome. For the family it was a pretty hard movie on how they touch depression and family loss (specially on Shadow parts) And for Sonic fans it was FULL of references on the games Shadow had participated.

The last part of the move was so amazing that my face was smiling all the way out, they went DBZ style super hard

It was a great movie and gladly im going to see it again.

seriously I knew goddamn well what was good and not as a kid
I was balls-deep in Transformers, but G1 Marvel was my jam and the cartoons could go eat my asshole

I actually watched Walsh's review, which is a step up from Bob's which I couldnt finish, and he legit pearlclutches that there's a murder-suicide in the film. he says "this bleakness mixed with silliness is because these movies are written by AI and not someone's artistic vision." which is bizarre given shitting on artistic vision is his whole vibe but whatever. he all this time talks about kids deserving better, but he suspiciously doesnt mention what his kids actually thought about the film. guess he's mad they loved sonic and didnt like idk? johnny the walrus or ladyballers?

That's why I like Greg Owen. He'll actually give what his kids at different ages graded the film.
(no sonic review yet)

Finally saw it, easily the best one of the three. All three have goofy elements that you kinda gotta shrug off since these are films for children with autists such as ourselves being the bonus demographic they welcome, but I feel like in the first two those elements were more lowest common denominator slop than in this one, so already points for toning down on the slop. Keanu Reeves as Shadow was way better than I expected as it initially sounded like Reddit casting back when they announced it, but he pulled it off really well, and he had a good arc. While I didn't get my wish of a child getting shot on camera, the bullet still caused her death via explosion so I say close enough, Jim Carrey's still having a good time, no retarded subplot like the wedding that quite literally nobody in the audience will care about, third act was great and a good finisher. A legitimately good movie that a kid would also enjoy, get fucked Matt Walsh and Movieblob.

Apologies for the doublepost, but after literally sleeping on it, I now know what this bizarre statement from Walsh
he legit pearlclutches that there's a murder-suicide in the film.
refers to, it's Gerald's plan to blow up the earth that will end up destroying the eclipse cannon in the process, and by extension himself. Another thing that came to mind after my doldrums, I find it interesting that this man is apparently a father, yet can't possibly imagine how losing a child or grandchild in a tragic accident would drive someone to lunacy.

He's literally complaining about a murder-suicide the antagonist plans on doing?

What the absolute fuck.

The fact that people are complaining about mildly disturbing things in a PG movie really shows how the PG rating has been abused to push G rated films because Disney and other film studios think it is more marketable. It in turn makes people think both are pretty much the same.

That would explain the rumor that they were going to give the film a PG-12 in some country or two. Too many people have become thin-skinned scaredy-cats because some helicopter parent cried about little Timmy wetting the bed over the sight of a gun in a PG movie one too many times.

Fuck, I remember how blood used to be okay in G-rated movies. Might not be more than a trickle, but there used to be a time where they weren't afraid to show kids that even in the movies people/animals bleed, which helps sell realism in fictional characters.

I watched the movie today. It's surprisingly loyal to Shadow's lore and it has elements of the original Sonic Adventure 2 despite diverging from it, and our beloved ow-the-edgehog does act like his original self instead of Coldsteel the Hedgeheg in Sonic Boom and Forces. Shadow is one of my favorite Sonic characters and I'm glad to see him fleshed out and not flanderized.

Also, I became very sad and almost cried believing that Shadow probably didn't live through the explosion at the end, but then I remembered he was immortal. He was confirmed to survive at the post-credits scene.

Saw the movie and i really liked it. The whole fighting scene in Tokyo and space was perfect. Everything else was alright. Live and Learn playing got me to jizz hard.

I hope we get to see Neo Metal Sonic in the next one. i just hope they dont turn Amy to a girl boss

Shadow being still alive gives me hope we get to see more of him. Maybe he gets his own show like knuckles.

They didn't fight the hole in Tokyo, it was when they went to Gerald's lab when the black hole appeared, although I'd hardly call it fighting the hole; they just escaped from it.

i just hope they dont turn Amy to a girl boss
Amy's been playable in a lot of games - indicating she's capable of doing stuff on some level - well before the Woke Era, and she's been shown as eager to get what she wants to the point of being bullheaded. So amazingly, I think she can be "grandmothered" (heh) into being a girlboss of sorts because she was more or less one before it fully crystalized into today's negative stereotype.

The kicker that those kinds of people who want her as one forget is that she's very much still A Young Girl, very girly and feminine, and can still have flaws or weaknesses. Sonic CD nutshelled it perfectly: she got kidnapped by Metal Sonic, indicating she's certainly not invincible in the slightest.... yet what happens when she's freed at the end of Stardust Speedway? She zooms straight to Sonic to cuddle up him and chases him down without stopping even when he tries to move away from her! A defining trait of hers is she's boy-crazy over him and she's always been shown having girly interests like tarot cards, or shopping in Adventure 1, or the like. Just as Tails gets portrayed as being easily intimidated and Knuckles a knucklehead (heh heh), Amy can be portrayed as too ditzy and too eager to get what she wants - IE, Sonic.

I'm down for Amy being able to smash up Metal Sonic copies in Sonic 4... while being completely, ditzily head-over-heels over an awkward Sonic, trying to be all coy and flirty with him (and failing hilariously) as she does so.
