It's things like this that really drive home to me how much I dislike modern society. I don't especially like going online and finding out I've funded some border-jumper's lawn-care business. I don't especially like having to go online and change a bunch of account information. I really hate getting on the phone to report it, being on hold for 35 minutes, and then having to go over the whole thing with an account specialist. Who, of course, sounded like they were fresh off the fuckin boat. Sure, I'll go over my very personal info with you after I just got it stolen, Apu. Don't mind that at all.

Thank God it was just a standby card that I rarely used.

Anyway, anyone else have fun tales about id theft or credit fraud?
 
Think of it this way, your credit card helped many Americans have really nicely trimmed lawns.

There are 2 main ways this could have happened

1. You don't know how to use the internet securely which means you are retarded

2. This is from the equifax breach which despite widespread instructions on how to check if you were compromised and what to do afterwards, you failed to make any attempt at doing so. Which means you are retarded


Blame yourself, not the person taking advantage of your stupidity
 
I get that you're pretty bummed about it, but I think that Mexican was more happy to get that lawn stuff than you were sad to lose your money. The total happiness in the world increased.
 
I got my money refunded, the mexican got arrested, everything's copacetic. It increased my happiness when he was arrested. So the total happiness of the world increased. One happy American is worth much much more than one sad sad mexican.
 
This is why I hate credit cards and I dont have one. Credit cards are just a part of a capitalist scam to get people to lose their money electrically and to steal funds from people with all these hidden fees, hidden interest you have to pay, basically paying large amounts just to even have the credit card in the first place, its not worth the head ache. If it aint cash money I dont use it. My parents have credit cards but I dont. I aint going to let the government take advantage of me like that. Im too smart to fall for it.
