Throwing money at things isn't always the best way to help that thing. Black people have built up a culture that reveres thugs and criminals, and view the ghetto as some kind of holy land. The inner cities will never get better until those living there "want" to get better, and can see what they have to do.

There's a reason for that, though I doubt the SJW's are aware of this.

I've talked in a few other posts about writer David Horowitz and his autobiography. I read it some years ago, and in it he makes a passing remark comparing his radical Left generation (60's New Left) to his parent (World war era communist/Stalinist supporters). He talks about how in his generation, the role of the proletariat was taken up by the black people. In his generation, (which pretty much laid the foundations for what we are currently going through) Black people were not just another race, trying to get by in the world, albeit one with a history of being slaves, but they were now the chosen people. It was they who would lead the enlightened masses to the promised land (I.E. communism).

Some of the less savory black men of the time took advantage of this, the biggest example being Huey Newton, who Horowitz was a friend and supporter of for a time, before his disillusionment with the Left. Newton was the founder of the Black Panthers, and used the support and power he got as a "Marxist" from the New Left, to basically form a crime family, at the heart of the organization.

Newton is long gone, but the image of the black person as a chosen one remains for the Left. I'm not even sure they are fully aware of it.

This is the part that frustrates me that it isn't spoken of more. Yes, racism is a problem, as is poverty, discrimination, and the leftover effects of Jim Crow and slavery. All that has been well documented. But a key component to all this is the fact that a very vocal segment of the population will actively tear down any progress made by the black community, at either an individual or a group level?

What good does it do to make sure colleges fairly review black candidates if getting good grades is called "acting white"?

What good does it do to subsidize child care if women are incentivized to have more children, while men are lionized for being as promiscuous as possible?

What good does it do to aggressively police ghetto neighborhoods when having a criminal record is seen as a good thing in those communities?

There is a certain point at which the people being helped need to WANT to improve, or nothing will ever change.

It's hard for me to string something together since tbh there's a lot of different parts of that community that see eye to eye on lots of thing. There's respectable boomers and millennials that got out of that mindset and went on to do teaching and minor political/government jobs.

And then there's the more prominent blacks from the hood that have the phrase "You can only make it if you're a rapper or basketball player" that's been ingrained for a while. That phrase alone can show you why it's a disheartening, vicious cycle. Uneducation and scapegoating whitey. False pride has a big part of this too.
It's pretty upsetting since the only way to make sure you're kids arent doomed to a similar style is by moving away but gotta do what you gotta do.
