Smart morphable surfaces, or smorphs, are surfaces that change in response to the conditions around and inside them. Your skin is sort of like a smorph. If conditions inside your skin change, like if you gain weight, your skin changes with it. Start hitting the Doritos too hard, for example, and your belly will grow. The good news is, unlike your jeans, your skin will grow with it. If you've ever been pregnant or seen a pregnant woman's tummy, you know that your skin can stretch taught and tight over a growing body part. When that body part shrinks from having a baby or trading Doritos for carrot sticks, the skin will usually shrink back down as well.

Of course, our skin doesn't always shrink back down perfectly. After a big weight loss, we can have loose skin and stretch marks. Skin doesn't only respond to conditions inside the body though. Spend too long in the tub, and you'll get wrinkly fingers. Head outside naked on a cold day, and you'll get goose bumps (as well as a citation, since public nudity is illegal in most places). Smorphs are sort-of like skin in that they aren't always smooth and sleek, and they can respond to conditions inside and outside of the body. In some cases, the dimples in a smorph can improve aerodynamics and fuel economy for cars. If only your stretch marks could do the same. Keep reading to find out how smorphs can help improve your vehicle's aerodynamics and fuel economy in the near future.

Based Smurf appreciator thread. Remember to avoid getting bitten by the black Smurfs, or you'll turn black. No one wants to turn black.

Meet Gargamel:
1780256151985.png

Gargamel is a real eccentric living deep in the woods of Belgium/France border area. Now in his late 60s, this purple-robed hermit has spent decades fixated on the small, tight-knit Smurf commune a peaceful, all-blue community living cooperatively under Papa Smurf. He’s known locally as the odd wizard type guy who keeps trying (and failing) to capture Smurfs for his alchemy experiments. Lives alone in a rundown stone shack with his long-suffering cat Azrael.

Basic Info:
  • Age: ~68
  • Residence: Dilapidated forest hovel with leaking roof and no reliable utilities
  • Occupation: Self-proclaimed alchemist and “wizard” (kike)
  • Record: Repeated trespassing complaints, failed trapping attempts, and one incident involving a strange biting insect that affected some Smurfs
Background Gargamel:
became obsessed decades ago after discovering the Smurf village. His main goal appears to be catching Smurfs to turn them into gold or use in potions. None of his plans have ever worked. He relies on elaborate but poorly executed schemes involving traps, disguises, and potions.Notable Incidents
  • Multiple trail-cam videos show him sneaking near the village only to trip his own traps or get chased off.
  • The “Black Smurf” event: Released some kind of fly that temporarily changed the color and behavior of several Smurfs. The village contained it and recovered.
  • Frequent failed disguises (blue paint and white hat) that fool no one.
  • Ongoing arguments with Azrael, who often abandons him mid-scheme.

Classic pattern: spends days preparing, gets spotted immediately, ends up wet/muddy/angry, then goes home to rant.Current StatusStill active. Occasionally posts online under pseudonyms about his “next big plan.” The Smurf village continues thriving peacefully.Gargamel’s shack looks increasingly rundown, and sightings show him looking more tired and frustrated with each passing year.
