Asian translations don’t mess with gender and are typically accurate. There’d be little if no messing with that stuff between JP, KR, and CN, etc, so any would do.

A lot of the gender discourse for the cookies actually comes from the cookies never being referred to with any pronouns at all. It's usually just "this cookie" etc. However, in a situation where it could then be decided that their gender is up to interpretation by those not digging into other language versions, people decide no pronouns at all is 100% nonbinary "coding" and if you use any other pronouns besides they/them you're a horrible person that wants trans people to die.

In one case, one of the cookies had never been referred to with any pronouns, so the fandom latched onto him as a "they/them". Then when an a event came out that expanded on his character more than a brief summary, he was revealed to be male, and the fandom threw an absloute shit fit, acting as if the company was committing genocide on nonbinaries by confirming the gender of a character never specified to begin with.
