It's such a shame that Tumblr is trying to indoctrinate naive teens that don't feel attraction at 'that age' into being asexual and having it be their identity but as soon as they find the one that gets their motor running, they feel like they lose a unique part of themselves and get ousted from the Q+ community then end up feeling alone or ostracised. So, back in the early 2000s, when asexuality was first being identified as a thing, the "old guard" (people who are now in the early-30s to late 40s and identified as asexual at the time) were in agreement that asexuality was similar to bisexuality in that you felt the same to both sexes, but what you felt was "nothing". It didn't mean your dick was broken, or that you couldn't have a sexual relationship, just that you didn't have that attraction that others had.
I even remember one conversation where I watched someone talk a teenager out of identifying as asexual because she didn't want the younger girl to hold herself back or restrict her own sexuality just because she was a late bloomer (she was, btw). That's certainly not the case anymore.
I think the asexuals are probably one of the world's greatest cases of a complete and utter failure to gatekeep, and that's what's gotten us to where we are today.
Now, asexual just means whatever you want it to mean because the Q+ demands their special identity.
Do I have to say that it's OK to be a late bloomer? It should be obvious but being special takes priority over common sense, I guess.
