Racebending is annoying, but if an artist casually inserts it into their fanart and doesn't make a big fuss about angering racist nerdbros, then it's fairly harmless. Also this is, like, the tamest "fatwashing" pic I've ever seen. No SU sausage limbs, no double fupa, literally all they did was thicken her legs and give her a muffin top - without stretch marks, even! Man, I wish other woke artists were this unobtrusive with their character ugly-fying. If you're gonna racebend an established, well-designed character, at least keep them kinda cute. Turning them into hairy, lumpy genderfuck gorillas isn't nearly as progressive as you think it is.

Part of me thinks some of them really do love the character but with the pressure from their tumblr peers they have to create the ideal progressive version of thee character in order for their love to be acceptable.the whole 'respectful design' shit makes me so sad. like heeeheee i take away boobiee and make black it's so much betterrr. and yet, people who do that claim to love the character so much.

It's not even just tumblr anymore. One of the girls I mentor is 14 and and she's been having to pretend to be bisexual just to fit in. It's sad. It's really sad.

Imho it's kind of disrespectfal, it just oozes "this character didn't look good/"appropriate" enough. look how i made it better!!". This makes me uncomfortable because A: It makes it seem like the artist is going to try and trib rape me because she has girls on her mind all the time and go after anything with a bloody axe wound and B: It reminds me of a lolcow's batshit insane doodles, in spoiler.

Aside from whatever cultural pressure is pushing these artists to incorporate racial/gender/sexuality modifiers into their work, I’m certain that part of it is the allure of making art you can hate someone for not liking.
