Normally I have no clue who made what on here but I instantly knew the artist who drew this. I used to follow their Twitter for a while and, while the art was good, it was also absolutely filled with Thomas-related stuff. It was like watching a K-Pop fangirl sperg over BTS, but with Thomas. So yeah, not surprised they're still chugging along (heh) with this AU.

I haven't checked on their account in ages but, if my memory serves me right:

Spoiler: (human) train sperging

- Thomas and Edward were originally both white, but were changed because muh diversity. No, really. (Edward was Indian/Mexican mixed I think, but that's hard to tell when they're all the same shade of 70% cacoa chocolate)
- James is gay, trans, and...Hispanic, I think? Can't remember if it was Spanish or Portuguese, but I'm pretty sure he was/is Hispanic.
- Samson (the fedora-clad sperg on the right) was a character added later in the series that the artist hated so much they turned him into the most cartoonishly bigoted fuckboy imaginable. He's such a strawman that he's...pretty boring, actually. Remove the fact that he's a human Thomas character and he's virtually identical to any other fuckboy strawman.

I know the idea of human Thomas characters is hilariously exceptional but I can understand why someone would go so in-depth with their AU. Human AUs are so popular because artists get to do the fun part of creating a character (design) with all the boring stuff done for them (personality traits, history, character relationships).

Plus, reinventing a character makes it easier for an artist to justify projecting one's own beliefs and identities onto them. Like, you're not obnoxious if you draw beloved cartoon characters as loudmouthed troons punching fuckboys, that's just your personal interpretation of them. It's not sleazy and gross of you to draw your cartoon crush as a pouty transboi with child-bearing hips, that's just your style.

(Also, about the "demon" girl at the bottom - I believe in a fairly recent special, they introduced a new female character who had, like, a "darker" side to her. Or maybe they didn't. Who cares, it's a cartoon train.)

most trenders are legit autistic or have ADHD, because they’re more vulnerable to misinformation. even though the drawing isn’t an autistic caricature, it’s not actually that inaccurate in the end to make the comparison.

Hand-flapping is fake and gay. It’s a fairly uncommon habit - no autistics I know personally do it and I’ve seen other people express the same thing - but to tumblr spergs it’s like, ubiquitous among autistics. Autistics do not love hand-flapping like gay people love musicals. (They also don’t love flaunting their stim toys like they’re Pandora necklaces but that’s getting into a whole different conversation)
Anyways, this post highlights one of my least favorite things about these keyboard-warrior types: their initial reaction dictates the entire conversation. Like seriously, once they hyperfocus on something they just can’t acknowledge the point OP was trying to make. You have to argue against their reaction, because if you try to bring the original point back up you’ll be perceived as going off-topic or avoiding the issue. What a bunch of spergs.
