Big treat for anyone who hasn't heard of Otterpupps before, she only draws things like this. Doesn't seem to be posting much on Twitter anymore but here it is anyway, along with her Tumblr and FurAffinity [Warning its WILDLY NSFW, she draws mostly fat fetish stuff despite not being into it herself]

It's a shame because her coloring is really soft and nice but she wastes it on shit like this.

now my first thought here is that this guy is just being added in to pacify everyone who was whining about this Mercy concept art not being used as the official design lol

They always ignore the actually black characters so that it looks like they've done more for representation than they actually have. They also didn't include Briar and Rosabella who I believe are canonically hispanic, or Cerise who many people believe is latina. I'm going to be VERY optimistic and assume the character selection has something to do with Lizzie getting together with Daring Charming (who here is another example of tumblr green-black redesigns...) Plus the other Wonderlanders? I think I vaguely remember something like that happening in the shitty puppet-rig animated shorts, but I can't really say as they were literally too cringeworthy to sit through even though they were only a few minutes long each.

The community was always destined to be toxic, that's pretty par-for-the-course when it comes to toy and doll collecting. Needless, petty drama over the dumbest shit imaginable. If you're aware of those "closed species drama' blogs, that's pretty comparable to the standard dolly fandom. So-and-so has too many of this doll, so-and-so snubbed me once so you should block them, but it wasn't SJW. That didn't happen until around I want to say 2012, when Monster High (the sister line to Ever After High which exists in the same universe) started pandering to the uh..."blossoming" social justice outcry by adding more characters of varying cultural backgrounds (Mexican, Chilean, Brazilian, Chinese, eventually Japanese and Native American) it only drew more of them into the fandom. Which is what always happens. When you try to do the whole representation thing, you better be prepared to be put under the lens. It got so bad that artists and staff were being harrassed off the site and I think that's part of why the line died and eventually had to be put down in early 2018. The majority of buyers after 2014 were from collectors, and while most people cite the declining quality of the dolls (Which I disagree with, the quality was still above average and it only happened after sales went down) I fully believe the community just became so toxic that it turned collectors away.

Two: I saw the decline of the community in real time and lemme tell ya, it was wild. It went from full of people to fucking barren in like, what? Two months? I've never seen a fandom die so fast.

One: Same, at least with Cerise. Though I had no idea EAH was even that popular, I always saw more sperging over Monster High. MH was more open with their representation though.

Two: no shit, that was impressive to see too. Mostly I follow the customizing side of the fandom, so what I saw was a lot of crying over the budget dolls taking over, and the removal of joints/more things being molded onto the dolls themselves. Then everything just vanished off the shelves overnight after Dragon Games had sat there for like a month. It was weird.

Right? It's not everyday someone makes a big, black, healer. Mercy's current design works but feels a bit cookie cutter at the same time ( nothing against hot Nordic blondes, just it's been done to death). I also think Blizzard is starting to learn that the people who RRREEE most about character designs aren't the people that buy their games anyways.
