After a little digging, apparently the character is supposed to be Christina LaCroix, a character from the comic tie-ins where they visited an alternate universe where Summer's a lesbian.

So that one isn't completely out of nowhere I suppose.

The only thing that could possibly be SJW about this is that they're black, which considering it's a humanizaton of a bunch of anthropomorphic turtles that live in New York isn't nonsensical at all. They're all a bunch of skinny/muscular young men, and the art style is nice too.

Isn't the point of Makoto that he's meant to have an uninteresting design? He's meant to be an average, non-outstanding high school kid who attends the academy due to dumb luck. It lets the other characters, who are more eccentric, stand out.

These are nicely done. It's obvious who the characters are, you get a sense of their personalities, and the designs themselves are pretty reasonable. If they had been obese trannies covered in pride shit, then it would be SJW art. Right now, it's just humanized turtles.

I’ll never be able to comprehend why there seems to be quite a few who draw Ishimaru to be chubby and/or fat honestly considering he looks like he’s been working out most all his life.

In all seriousness though, it just seems like more projecting onto characters you like. I’m sure there’s plenty of others out there with these traits, but instead of looking for them, most seem to just stick with what they know and just remake characters to be more like themselves.

I’m not sure on this one. The art is good and Gappy is a fusion- he could have two different skin tones. We don’t know if Josefumi is lighter or darker than Kira.

I doubt they were trying to be scientifically accurate anyways so I wouldn't really count it against them. What is shitty is that fucking weird nose and mouth, square-shaped eyesm and those hands which are obviously severely referenced to the point it contrasts with how cartoony everything else is.
