the absolute worst logic. it's racist because you're saying an asian person isnt poc enough, not that light is pretty, it's that they're saying that asian person is invalid as a poc because theyre pale.

this recent wanting to connect with characters is bullshit, slight powerlevel but i never looked at nathan drake as a kid and said, "man, i cant connect with him because im mexican," kids dont fucking care. it's the experience and how they are as a character that people should relate to.

They need to stop saying they care about POC when they only mean black people. By their reasoning, changing an Asian or Latino character's race should be considered just as racist as turning a black character white, but that doesn't matter to them.

Their logic is a dumbass sociological conflict theory argument wherein your race and gender and whatnot should broadly determine your life experience and opinions.

Therefore if someone of a (supposedly) marginalized group disagrees with this notion, then they can immediately be labeled as having internalized their own oppression, because there is apparently only one universal narrative and circumstance which always applies to women/black people/gays/etc.

It’s not that conflict theory is inherently a wrong way to view societies, but that’s only one lens that we can look through, isn’t it?

people consider every character that shares something with them that they consider a big enough part of their identity, as part of themselves... their kin [hurr durr jokes aside yknow damn well what i mean]
