This one I can actually answer for - the voice actor for Darwin is a black kid, so they frequently make humanized versions of him black to reflect that.

If they want dark skinned Japanese folks, why not do ganguro? Also, if Ed, Edd & Eddy were black wouldn't SJWs complain since Ed is an idiot, Eddy is a sneak and proud con-artist and Double-D is neurotic (but an all around decent guy)? They have stalkers, get humiliated or beaten-up (often due to their own schemes) and things don't work out for them.

Fairly sure that the SJW's consider ganguro as "blackface". There's a reason Jinx from Pokemon has purple skin rather than its original black, after all.

The people who make these ugly racebende arts that almost venture into stereotypes are usually white people, right? I can never imagine a black person drawing a black character with broken teeth, or a latino drawing a "latinx" with so much facial hair it'd give Yosemite Sam jealousy.

Welp it's because Tumblrinas are dumb.
