I feel like this is more an exaggeration of what they think happens internally; as if the flag is blood on the doorposts and "hateful people" will see if and not come in.

Yeah. I'm getting a little to optimistic here, but I believe the ones who stay in this phase are usually the minority, and since they're the minority, of course they feel special just because they stand out in general. I can't really see how the fuck people like these hold jobs if they indeed hold jobs because I just find it so taxing balancing internet politisperging and "activism" with actual priorities. Maybe that's why they're so stressed and angry.
Think Michaelangelo and DaVinci. Though those two have done different things and didn't just do art. They invented things, wrote songs, studied anatomy, and more.
