Sinéad O’Connor, acclaimed Dublin singer, dies aged 56

Irish singer Sinéad O’Connor has died at the age of 56.

The acclaimed Dublin performer released 10 studio albums, while her song Nothing Compares 2 U was named the number one world single in 1990 by the Billboard Music Awards.

Ms O’Connor was presented with the inaugural award for Classic Irish Album at the RTÉ Choice Music Awards earlier this year.

The singer received a standing ovation as she dedicated the award, for I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got, to “each and every member of Ireland’s refugee community”.

“You’re very welcome in Ireland. I love you very much and I wish you happiness,” she said.

Ms O’Connor is survived by her three children. Her son, Shane, died last year aged 17.

Thank you for giving the context about this, it sounds like an absolutely abhorrent thing that the catholic church did during that time. I thought Ireland would be clean for shit like this.

But it still doesn't answer my question, since Islam does shit like this every single year and arguably in a worse manner than this.

Case in point, in Nigeria an islamic group of niggers shoot and killed a lot of people in a church during Christmas Eve, they even attacked them with machetes. Selling the kids as slaves and disemboweling the Baptist pastor of the church, something that was not mentioned in the article. So, I don't know what makes Islam better for Sinéad to convert and probably ignored these incidents.

What ruined her career was the fact that she was a mediocre one hit wonder who got lucky by singing someone else's song. She had barely charted for two years before her ebin clapback at the fundies. It didn't affect the trajectory of her career at all. This is objectively provable.

She still made millions and had enough money to sustain a twenty year drug bender in a two million dollar mansion.

Was never a big fan of her, but credit to her for not giving a damn and doing it her way.

Cos she was a cosplaying lolcow at the end of the day and Ireland didn't have Muslims back then when she was calling out the Church which still enjoyed huge State support.
All she did was change her name and sometimes wore a hijab. Muslims beyond one or two here and there just weren't a thing until this millennium. She became as much of a Muslim as you or I would from changing our names to kebab names and wearing white sand dresses. She had real experience with the Catholic Church, and probably next to no real Islamic experience as much as she claimed. She was crazy, probably kept away from people for her own sanity most of the time.

Again, a dumb nigger who knows nothing about Ireland, where she lived. Her career was ruined. Her name became dirt to anyone who loved the Pope, which was everyone and their fucking mother. Get a clue.
 
Calling Sinead an artistic basket case that never met a nigger she wouldn't worship, or a self-obsessed neurotic that'd throw her family in the bin in favor of her own needs, or just a wishy-washy amoral shit that'd follow any trend - even before the muslim schtick, she had her middle-aged regret tour apologizing for demonstrating against JPII - for another taste of media exposure, is all quite fair.

But she had a good point that the Catholic church liked grinding Ireland's bones with cruel, brutal shit. She didn't shave her head because Alien 3 was so fucking awesome; it was a direct reference to the Magdalene laundries. And while today it's widely acknowledged - and also widely criticized - that the Catholic church has a lot of problems with institutional cover-ups of pedophilia now, this was distinctly not the case back in ye olden days of the early 90s.
