Only because of Konami. Let's not forget who fucked it up in the first place and years later they fucked it up again when they cancelled Silent Hills. We should have gotten Silent Hills but we live in the Clown Universe so that was never happening.
Silent Hills was going to be shit regardless.

It was built as a viral teaser first. There's no way that was going to be built backwards into a game that would bring back Silent Hill to the horror forefront again. Did I like Silent Hills? Yeah a lot. I just don't see in what universe that could be fleshed out into a game that was anymore than a jump scare game where it's entirely vague with what the player is supposed to do, like the teaser.
And while marketing was positive, it was still going to end up like shit because this is Konami and Kojima we're talking about.
Honestly, I had no interest in a faggy Koji silent hill. That is a man who is held up by better men who are not fame hungry whores. When he had his special Yank help make sense of his gay ninja porn, it churned out hit after hit. Once he dumped his yank, thinking he knew best, its been nothing but shit held by a sometimes interesting stealth game (a genre that is always crying for more).
The thing is, P.T. wasn't even Silent Hills, it was a teaser like you said. I doubt that they even knew what the game would have been about. P.T. was just a gimmick, trying to appeal to the Outlast and other first-person jumpscare games. I don't think the real game would have been in first-person.
Shattered Memories is perfectly serviceable. I play it on my wii sometimes, though not every year like the first 3. I even liked Origins. Though primarily because it was one of the few games I had for my stolen PSP.
Del Toro means nothing, he will whore out his name to anything. People remember his good shit whilst ignoring the larger collection of complete shit. Plus he is very sappy, he is not a good fit for Silent Hill. Koji also doesn't care who he works with, it would be an attempt for him to be a Hollywood starfucker all over again.
I think I can agree with this. I think SH is done. I don't want it to be, but it is. At the very least, it's only ever going to be a shambling corpse with brief sparks of life. I was intrigued by the Silent Hill F trailer. I wish it wasn't Silent Hill, since I don't want to know the level of fuckery which will be required to tie it into the already existing lore of the first 4 games. I also would like things to stop being remakes of things that already exist, there are so many current things that would be fine on their own if they just had a different name. SH Shattered Memories is a great example. Had it been named Cold Heart and had the names of the characters and towns changed, it probably would've been one of those "hidden gems" that people always talk about. As it is, it's just the least awful post-The Room turd. Unless you count the Novel for GBA, everyone forgets that one. It's fun. There are fan translations for it.
The series has been in decline ever since post SH2. Every single sequel following has consistently made less money than the one that proceeded it. That isn't to say that SH3-4 are bad, but it's a fact of reality it never hit a peak again.
Kojima should just move to Hollywood and actually make a movie, because he's the perfect for shitty Hollywood writing.
