I figured this show would have a thread, but I guess not.

Couples Therapy premiered in 2019 and currently has 4 seasons. The season premier is free on YouTube. It's on Paramount+ and I'm sure everyone can find it elsewhere.

The format of the show is snippets of therapy sessions of couples with Dr. Orna Guralnik. There are a few ground rules. Children are not discussed for their privacy, and the therapy subjects have no contact with any crew. The show presents itself as mature and high class but in reality it's a sideshow spectacle like any other reality tv show.

Dr. Guralnik also discusses some cases with her own therapist. This part you may find odd, but once you watch the show you'll soon realize why. Many of the couples in this show are pretty strange and awful. To the point she is quite dumbstruck by them. You can tell this instantly with the transgender and open/poly relationship ones which are by far the highlights.

I personally don't feel the show is biased to either men or women. There's some truly awful examples of both and I am disappointed as it seems like you often between seasons don't get any updates on some of them.

This is incredible. It used to run on BBC2 after Newsnight and nigel and I were addicted. Nearly every couple is terrible. In the occasional couple, only one of them should be drowned but in most of the couples, they are both terrible. It is really uplifting to see that these terrible people found each other to make miserable rather than making some normal kind human miserable. My favourite (for a value of favourite) were the ex Mormons where even though tbh the wife was pretty unlikeable, the fact she kept returning to in therapy that she had effectively been forced to marry this guy and would now rather chew through her own leg than remain married to him, but he was still insisting they could work it out in therapy, they were my favourite. Like she hated him so much she physically crushed herself into the far side of the couch. There was no fucking way they were going to 'work it out'. He was a fucking asshole too though so it was difficult to have sympathy for him.

The one that got me was the guy who somehow got on the show who was clearly just manipulating these two women under the guise of it being an "open/poly" relationship. He clearly preferred one and the other was a side bitch and they both just went along with his modern bullshit relationship language salesmanship. Iirc the therapist didn't know how to even handle it. She was being too nice. It's clear what he was doing
