If I don't "take care of myself" before I go to school each morning there are problems. The short bus that I ride has poor shocks and the bumpy road makes my nether regions quite excitable. Yeah but not nearly as much as most people seem to.

Aside from the fact that there's a minor spike in testosterone production after ~four days without nutting, and the fact that orgasm releases hormones that keep you placid and lazy, it just seems like a terrible idea to regularly artificially sate one of the biggest motivators of human achievement. Not all but the majority of human behavior can be attributed to either a fear of death or a desire to mate and procreate, and tons of time and energy is spent towards achievements and posturing that effectively amount to intrasexual competition and mating displays. You go out and work hard to earn money and status so you can attract a higher quality partner so you can produce higher quality offspring and continue your genetic line. Every time you crank your hog, you temporarily sate that desire, and gimp your generative drive. Not to mention it's a free hack for dopamine and serotonin and endorphins and by varying accounts oxytocin, all if which make you less motivated to go out and engage in healthy and pro-social behaviors that normally facilitate their release. It's like the infinite coin block in Mario -- you feel like you're being rewarded, but you're not actually doing anything or getting anywhere. Whereas if you just let yourself be uncomfortable, you'll find yourself actually going out and doing things in order to sate that discomfort.

To say nothing of the many many ways porn rots your brain.

On the flip side thirst tends to make people act Indian and many many men have fucked up their lives and the lives of others over a wet hole, and punching the clown is an effective countermeasure. Personally I try to only masturbate if I notice myself starting to act like a pajeet, and never look at porn if I can help it.

Upsides: Relaxes you, drives away the all-consuming need to coom that would otherwise end in a Syrian-style sexual emergency

Downsides: You might sometimes masturbate to things that are embarrassing and make you feel really guilty. Like I did, earlier. It was awesome.
