Should we be funding the US military?

I've noticed that the US military has become increasingly political and increasingly leftist. They've openly called certain parts of the population a threat to national security. This has happened following a twenty year period where the US military has been extremely focused on developing their COIN capabilities. With Russia having been castrated by Ukraine and China not being perceived as a threat to the ruling party, what makes you think that the US military isn't going to start looking inward instead of outward?
Here is what I think we should do:
1. Mass culling of the top brass: People like Mark Milley have proven themselves to be incompetent leftists. We should just get rid of them
2. Mass budget cuts across all services: Reduce the budget remind these people who is feeding them. Reduce it by a purely arbitrary percentage with only nuclear deterrence and Naval procurement and sustainment being spared. Make it clear that the budget will be restored when the political programs in the armed forces end and that non-compliance will result in further cuts.
3. Cease military aid to Israel: This one's just kinda a no-brainer. A wealthy first world country with a modern military shouldn't need help to protect itself from neighbors that are either friendly, impoverished, or actively fighting a civil war.

American's shouldn't be funding most things the US government wastes (or more often corruptly launders for interest groups) money on. If the US government was a company it would have gone bankrupt decades ago, its executive staff forced out by outraged investors dozens of times, and it would frankly have no investors interested in investing.

I am not saying we should run the US government exactly like a company, but it should definitely have far more controls to build in fiscal responsibility, transparency from top to bottom, and accountability from those unelected and elected officials who abuse the system.

The issue is the system, all your solutions do is deal with the symptoms. Curing the illness is always a better solution than chasing symptomatic fires. Its why Trust breaking didn't stop monopolies, subsidizing goods didn't lower prices in the long term, and every US conflict since WW2 has been a colossal waste of time, blood and money.

Fiscal responsibility is quite impossible due to the nature of Rothschild Fiat currency, especially when it is unbacked, 100% debased, and printed by the Trillions like colored paper in a game of Monopoly.

The system is set up so the military will be funded whether you like it or not. Either you pay taxes, in which case your tax money goes to the military, or you don't, in which case your assets are seized, liquidated, and the proceeds sent to the military.

So long as people continue to believe in America and the almighty Dollar, this arrangement will continue.

i think israel should be paying for us given all the endless cash we've given them into stupid religious bullshit

the military industrial complex and its consequences have been a disaster for the human race

You could say this about all governments, though. It's not a US-only problem. It's a problem inherent to basically every government
No need to run your company smartly if you just get shitloads of money given to you for free by a bunch of retarded suckers to keep your company afloat

Even if you think the military is pozzed, WTF do you think is going to happen without it? Good things? lol
The goal wouldn't be to completely get rid of the military, just to gut it for a few years to teach them a lesson.

I have to concede that completely getting rid of the military would have some negative consequences, but keeping them around in their current state seems like a bad idea. Why do you want to deal with an organization that is heavily armed, very focused on COIN, and thinks that you're a domestic terrorist and a threat to them?

Yeah gut it for a few years so China can push over Taiwan and Vietnam and everyone else in and around the South China Sea, and Japan goes full bushido again and starts cranking out nukes, and South Korea does too, and we have to go to war with China anyway eventually and start out from a weaker position because we gutted the military for a few years to own the libs

You're behind the times, COIN was tossed out several years ago, it's all about conventional war against Red chinks now

Everything you said about East Asia is correct, but you still haven't explained why the military isn't eventually going to be used against us. Protecting our allies in the far east and keeping China down is nice and all, but what's it good for if we are all either in prison or heavily monitored for being dissidents/domestic terrorists/whatever?

Please elaborate on what you mean by 'tossed out'? I know that there has been a shift to developing more conventional capabilities in the past few years, but that doesn't mean that all of the COIN lessons we got from Iraq and Afghanistan were unlearned or that the equipment geared towards COIN is no longer there (Except the MRAPs, I believe the military is trying to divest itself of those).

FUCK no. That shit needs to be defunded by at least 90%. Close the imperial garrisons. Bring the troops home. And let them get some real jobs that are actually fucking useful to our Country.

I don't have to explain why the sun isn't going to rise in the West and set in the East. The military is not going to be used against the citizenry, your very earnest autism notwithstanding.

Yeah I'm sure China, Russia, Iran and North Korea won't take advantage of the US military being "gutted for a few years." No offense, but you are extremely naive and seem almost spoiled by by peace time and the idea that wars happen in far off places that don't affect you. This is AOC level logic where all the problems are solved if you just get rid of gasoline.

If the military is going to be used against us, why would the military allow us to stop spending money on it anyway

Doesn't make sense

I'm not pretending like wars in far off places don't effect us or that China, Russia, or North Korea are threats (I think Iran is a little more nuanced, but that's another discussion). What exactly are you proposing is going to happen if the military budget is gutted for a few years while America sorts out it's internal problems? No nuclear-armed state is going to attack us as long as we have nukes and Russia in particular isn't in a position to do anything for awhile. South Korea is protected from North Korea by American troops at the 38th parallel acting as political tripwires and by America's nuclear umbrella. If North Korea attacks South Korea, then American soldiers will die and America will be brought into the conflict, which will be between two nuclear-armed states. That would be suicide for North Korea, so they won't do that. China could try to attack Taiwan, who is less protected than South Korea, but we could always just supply them with weapons like how we did with Ukraine. Also, you gotta keep in mind that if China attacks Taiwan, everyone will see it coming and it's going to be very difficult, because it will be an amphibious invasion of a mountainous and urbanized country. I think the US military can keep our allies in Europe and the far east out of a conventional war even if we have to reduce the budget by 30% or 40% for a few years. A few officers and commissars getting kicked out won't result in America pulling out of South Korea, Japan, Poland, and the Baltics.

I don't believe you. Nobody predicted 2020.

The military is still controlled by the federal government. In theory, congress could cut defense spending by 99% tomorrow if they wanted to.

All I am asking is that people who have the same concerns as me consider what I'm saying as potential policy. What I would like see happen (this is pure optimism, by the way) is for a new group of legislators sympathetic to my beliefs coming into power and attempting to reduce the military's budget.

I've been told that whenever there is a change in power within the federal government the military tries pander to them for more funding. When Trump was in power they released a paper describing Mexican gangs as a threat to national security and other shit that would appeal to Trump's base. Now we have Milley talking about white rage or whatever. I think that if someone tried to cut their budget then the pandering will start again.

I don't really like that, but what I think is more problematic is how certain elements of the military are trying to change it's culture and demographics. I think that, once that happens we're going to see some crazy shit. I think that even if the type of pandering changes, the stuff going on under the hood will keep happening. That's why the cuts should happen. When the purse-strings are sufficiently tightened, only what is necessary to function will be spared. I also think that this will teach the next generation military leaders that if they try to fuck around with politics, politics will fuck around with them.

I'd rather gut welfare, at least the military produces meaningful technologies, jobs and economic output.
