Firstly, I would assume that few rapists would have custody of the child, so they shouldn’t receive financial support anyway.
Secondly, if anyone’s due compensation financially then presumably it should be the victim.
I know there’ll be those who say that not having that financial support will affect the innocent child but that’s really something the parent should have considered. If there’s true poverty then the state will step in like they would with anyone else. It would be ridiculous for a rapist to get more financial support than a widow, for example.
There’s also the injustice to the victim - imagine having a huge financial commitment before you’re even 18 and because you were taken advantage of. That’s why kids can’t sign contracts.
