Should LEGO just make Minecraft 2 now?

Posting this here instead of Q&A because it's a serious idea.
Microsoft has pissed off a ton of people with Nu-Minecraft. LEGO, on the other hand, seems to have a golden reputation. The movie adaptation games they did, LEGO City Undercover, that upcoming open world racing game.
Should LEGO come in and one-up Microsoft/Mojang at what is currently a one game genre?
