I once found a perfect american flag in the dumpster.
I got pissed. Because who would throw away an American flag in good condition?
It's now in the living room; living in better conditions than whatever treacherous asshole threw it away.
I get pissed off when people throw away flags of any country, really.

Well I'd say it better showcases their sheer entitlement. Thinking that the world owes them free stuff and the employees that will almost certainly get yelled at or fired for the goods going missing? Who cares, right?

Anyway, shoplifting is still theft of someone's property, even if it's "sticking it to capitalism."

I love how they're all acting as if this is some sort of extreme activism. This all has nothing to do with fighting capitalism. They say it does online, but really they're just taking stuff they want and making excuses for it to avoid having to confront themselves about doing shitty things. They are in no way shape or form doing this to 'fight' or 'smash' anything. They just want new stuff and don't want to pay for it.

We'd get a bonus every quarter based on our profits (one of the few perks we'd get) and shrink (retaileese for shoplifters, but also includes other stuff like stuff being misplaced during stocking) would eat into it. People tend to think electronics is what people go for when shoplifting, but as these posts confirm, cosmetics is actually a big one - it's really hard to get an iPad and shove it in your purse, but you can easily shove $500 worth of mascara into your purse. There's usually no security tags or anything fancy like you'd see on an electronics device so it's super easy to steal cosmetics (not that I recommend you do so, because I will hunt you down and make you suffer).

It sucks for the store because if someone steals a $20 bottle of nail polish, they might have to sell $1000 worth of merchandise to recover the lost and that can be tricky (not sure the exact numbers but that's the basic idea).

Cosmetics baffle me because they're so small and they're not made of anything special, they're made of whatever is cheap on the market that does the job, go ahead and look through some chemical supply catalogs. Rarely do any of those substances approach the cost per gram that cosmetics do, never mind the fact cosmetics are typically made of pretty common substances like glycerine, palm oil, and minerals. You're literally paying for industrial byproducts and dirt to put on your face.

I worked for mcdonalds for a few weeks when I was a teenager and I was under the impression that the food was nearly worthless so I would not feel at all bad for making costly mistakes, stealing food for myself, or giving a little extra to people I recognized when they came through. Later on in life I realized that while some of that food was sold at a significant markup anything worth stealing probably had a thin margin and I felt a little bad to hear that the place only survived for a few years, the management there was insanely incompetent though my stealing was just one side effect of this. I know that at least some shifts there way no way they made any profit because of me.

You can. There was an adult store near my old apartment that had people trying to take underwear from them all the time. They'd call the police, especially after they ran out the door. It's just a lot of the chain stores that have policies against it for some reason.

I don't have the patience to dig through all this crap, but if someone is dumb enough to boast about this on dumblr and say where they're doing it, and give out enough details to dox them, it would probably be a fun way to spend some time to drop a dime on them just for the fuck of it.

This is because employees manage to turn this shit into a PR nightmare. All it takes is one employee who thinks they can punch the shoplifter or one brainiac to say "I know you people are in here stealin and i coughtcha today!"... lawsuits, protests. Not to mention if you have one serious racist working there who thinks every black person has pockets full of merchandise and acts on it.

Like they are literally going online and taking pictures and showing the world how they stole goods from a store. I thought that shit was illegal and the crime doesn't just wear off after you post it to Instagram.

I mean, most of these snowflakes post all of their personal info. It would be the easiest arrest ever. And we know police like easy work.
 
heh i aint gonna lie i steal stuff pretty regularly. usually it's just /fit/ bullshit though because i don't want to pay 18 bucks for fish oil capsules or like i'm outta dish soap and wont get paid for five days.

i'm not gonna make that a fucking fashion statement or lifestyle though. that's some grade A crazy white girl nonsense.

edit: i'll hold all these ratings, but imma just say ive never been one to feign moral outrage y'know

Eh, if they're racking up thousands of dollars in stolen merch, the cops might care, but I'm not sure if there's any real hard evidence for them to charge anyone. Might be better to tip off local retailers so they can keep an eye out for these dipshits.

The best part is that they are most likely stealing clothing made from sweatshops in poor countries.

I guess in a roundabout way they are actually helping the system by increasing the demand for more blue jeans. Those Cambodian children will be able to work through the night for pennies on the dollar!
