Logitech G502 Hero mice: I have two of these and both have issues with double clicking. This seems to be unbelievably common and Logitech literally does not give a shit. The advice online was to just slap the mouse and shake it for a few minutes to dislodge whatever shit has gotten stuck. It's a shame as it's otherwise a fantastic mouse.

bloody unlucky af mate, ive got the non hero g502 and the damn thing has been going strong since 2017 with moderate usage.
the only thing that's broken is the middle mouse button because a mate of mine was drunk and threw it at a wall durring a lan party. nothing else broke, just the middle mouse button.
i just remaped it and went on with my day (only problem is you need logitech's shitty software for the remap, thats gonna be a pain when i swap to linux)

the only brand i regret buying was cougar, needed a keyboard with some water resistance because if i spill my water bottle, the keyboard will at least survive it.
it was one of those mechanical membranes and shit was it terrible to type on, that and it had no volume control on it (something i really love because its fucking convenient).
after 5 years of tolerating it, i got so sick of it i cracked it over my knee and it split in half (wasn't surprised) and swaped to a spare ps2 keyboard i had and fuck me it was worse.
i might start looking into custom mechanical keyboards but that's a rabbit hole that i need to dedicate time to explore.

My prior laptop was a Asus 2 in one laptop/tablet. And yes, it had AMD. Shittiest wifi receiver on the planet. Made streaming anything other than YouTube a chore. My new HP pavilion x360 i5 does everything the old one did, better speakers, and a damn good wifi signal receiver. Also easy to take apart and mod.

I think the software has a switch where you can store settings on device memory so you don't have to run their shitty software. That's what I did so I could lock it to 800 DPI.

It was sealed up tight and I hadn't thought nor knew of that at the time. Also had performance issues. Point is my HP is all the equal and better. It's no gaming laptop, but it does tablet mode way better, that's for sure, which I use a ton.

Steelseries Rival 600 mouse. Looks & feels like a high-quality mouse. Driver issues have it repeatedly just deciding that it no longer recognizes the X-Y axis. Hold the middle button to soft-reset always fixes it, so I know it's not broken hardware. Worse mouse ever. Replaced with a Corsair.

I've been using a rival 700 off and on for several years. Build wise I agree with you, and though their customization software is absolute ass I haven't had any actual major issues with the mouse drivers. Never forget that Steelseries is the company that funded Bully Hunters.

doubleclicking is pretty easy to fix tho, it's just annoying in part due to logitech hiding the screws behind the pads, meaning you have to fuck with them to get in there.

after that it depends how much you wanna get into it, you could replace the switch or just cram it open and re-bend the plate. one requires soldering (and a new switch, although a different model might be more durable), the other is quite finicky...

News flash: basically every mouse manufacturer hides the screws under the skate pads. It's not just Logitech, it's the entire industry.

Also, two things: you don't re-bend the plate to fix it, that's a misconception. What actually causes the fix is that during the re-bending process you clean the contact and that's what solves the issue. Just do keep in mind that it is a tedious process and it's not a permanent fix, especially if you have shitty switches like the ones Logitech uses.

Second thing is that you're simply better off getting better switches than what Logitech puts in their shit and soldering them in place of the old ones. When I sent mine for the RMA repair it's clear that they've just soldered on different new switches, since not only do they feel different, they also haven't started double clicking long after the repair.

Hell, I sent it for the RMA repair right by the end of the 2 year warranty, and it's been another 2 years since that and there's no sign of double clicking coming back, and it developed it on the stock switches in a much shorter period. So yeah, just learn how to solder and get better switches.

Interesting. Have a Logitech trackball mouse, and it works pretty nicely. Good to know though that the internal switches can eventually burn out tho.

My husband bought an ADATA SSD to replace the mechanical disk on the PC at the shop. It only lasted 3 boot sequences after all was reinstalled. He took it back to the store with warranty and all and decided to pay the difference to get a Western something branded one instead and it has not failed so far

Corsair has been a mix for me, I've run through... 5? Corsair mice. All with the same issue of scroll wheel shitting out, randomly going the other direction when scrolling. Switched to a Logitech G502 Hero recently.
K70 has been fuckin great, other than me raging and smashing it which broke one of the little riser stand things, but that's a me problem.
My case is an ancient ( 2014? Somewhere around there I think ) Corsair Carbide SPEC-01. Two front fan mounts, one of which blows directly into a wall of drives. I saw someone convert the 5.25" bays in to drive storage to clear up the airflow from the bottom fan, might go for that as an interim thing before just buying a Fractal case.
Also the dust filter is a pain in the everything to get off to clean it. It's attached to the whole front panel, and that's held on by these little push clip things that hold it on with the force of god and anime.

Still, when I get the money to build a PC of my own- previous builds have always been for others-, it'll probably be a Western Digital for bulk storage and older games that don't require a SSD. Probably 4 to 8TB worth, because memory is cheap and all that, that and HDD's use less power than SDD's from what I know.

Western Digital. Your husband is a smart man. Very old AND reliable company. Can't go wrong with a WD drive. Some can last over a decade.

speaking of, what happened to the 8TB WD blues? was looking for a replacement recently, and the prices blew my mind before I figured out they're for old stock and thus overpriced. then looking up current options and the biggest blue is a 6TB, for a price I can get an 8TB ultrastar, or almost a 8TB red or 12TB toshiba. I could understand that WD figured they can push people towards other, more expensive lines when they need that size, even tho blues are designated for "content creation", so then why keep the 6 or even 4....?

I got burned once by a seagate barracuda dying, apparently one of the "shitty batches". that's a nice excuse and all, but won't make the time and money replacing it re-appear. fool me once and all...

can only speak of logitech since that's what I use.

I know of the video, but bending isn't just contacts, had it happen long before corrosion or dirt would be an issue. it's also not always the switches, same model can never have that issue while others can start to doubleclick quick. I assume it's either quality control or how people handle their shit (I literally never had any drifting issues, and I've been using dualshocks daily for years).
I also had one of those mx518 remakes which started double-clicking literally 1-2 months after using it, but quickly fixed itself for some reason.

bottom line: shit's weird yo

at least back then logitech had god-tier support outright replacing mice with the newest model for free, probably stopped that by now...

I thought I'd like the tablet and just adding a keyboard to it when needed for school, but I fucking hate it lol. Now that I'm done with college, I'm thinking of selling it and just saving up for something I know I'll like. But I have no idea where to sell it. Facebook Marketplace weirds me out. Sennheiser HD 579
I used to have a pair of Sennheiser HD 579's and the fit was just the worst. The muffs put so much pressure on my ears I would have to shift them around every 30 minutes to make them comfortable again. The build quality of the cloth type muffs was also spotty, they started pilling after three/four months and got really rough. Also, on one side of the adjustable band became VERY loose and would ride down my head as I wore them, making me re-adjust it every hour or so. I ended up giving them to my dad, who called me up two weeks later to tell me how awful they felt to him as well.

Interesting but unsurprising they're gatekeeping the 8tb behind the Red line. A lot of people just want it. Seagate doesn't because they know they're the cheap crack whore you go to when you need quick and dirty storage.

As for Toshiba, I've always heard that they're alright. No real issues.

Seagate's higher end drives like Ironwolf Pro have generally been pretty good for me. Western Digital also pulled a fast one by making WD Red SMR and making the old better CMR ones the more expensive WD Red Plus or Pro.
