This coming Monday, Christmas Eve on Sesame Street, first aired on December 3rd, 1978, will celebrate its 40th anniversary.

It's the original and still the best Sesame Street Christmas special since it was made when Will Lee (Mr. Hooper) was still alive, as was Northern Calloway (David), Jerry Nelson (Count von Count) and, of course, Jim Henson (Kermit the Frog and Ernie). The highlight is Ernie, Bert, and Mr. Hooper in a Sesame Street take on O. Henry's "The Gift of the Magi", but you also have Oscar making Big Bird question his faith in Santa Claus and Cookie Monster trying to get in touch with Santa using three different methods, two of which would be virtually unrecognizable to young children today (a very old-fashioned telephone and a typewriter).

"The Ref" is an underrated Christmas movie imo. I don't know if people would give it a chance these days because Kevin Spacey is in it.

SFDebris Christmas story "You Better Watch Out" was pretty good. More of an audiobook really, but still good.

LGR and AVGN's Christmas specials were good as well iirc.
