Glad that the fucking ice part of this thing is missing me for once, there's nothing 'wintery' worse than a fucking ice storm. You're basically guaranteed a multi-day outage event in that situation, exacerbated because the snow/ice makes it so linemen can't really do shit about it until the state/county gets its thumb out of its ass and starts plowing/salting roads. Hopefully most people in that area have an alternative heating method. Wood or kerosene or electric heaters w/ a generator.
For Dixiebros who aren't used to temps this cold, you probably don't have heat tape [because you'd basically never use it] so leave your taps running at a trickle for the duration of cold temps, it will help keep your pipes from freezing. Been there, sucks to have to melt down snow from the yard to flush the shitter. If they burst as a result of freezing you're likely looking at four or five figures in repair/remediation of water damage.
But yeah I'll take multiple feet of snow over any ice, fuck that shit. Had one Christmas where we didn't have power for almost a week because of an ice storm, had to heat the house with the gas oven and our pipes froze due to no power. Half of the state was shut down for several days, it was a rough one.
