My storm chaser friend is calling yesterday the biggest high risk bust there's been in years.
The recipe was right, but the mix was off and there wasn't enough shear to get it going violently.
Before anyone says that a possible EF3/EF4 (Barnsdale) isn't indicative of a bust, remember that there's been "super" outbreaks with less volatile conditions than these were; especially in Oklahoma, land of the EF5 magnet Moore.
Which did get straight line winds and had tornado warnings issued, but I digress.
I hope it's like that again tomorrow, but we've been unpleasantly surprised on a moderate/enhanced risk day before.
Truthfully though, I can't shake the feeling that there's gonna be a long track cell fire somewhere off southwest of Ft. Smith and just drag ass across Arkansas.
To clarify, I hope tomorrow is a bust.

I guess yesterday was really like 5/20/2019. A linear mode despite not being forecasted.
Those damage pics in Barnsdall look awful though. Building quality seems shitty (CMU foundations, "slider" homes) but still.

It’s entirely possible that the Bartlesville tornado was more powerful than the damage will suggest. There’s absolutely nothing to the southwest of the town. I’m waiting to see aerial views of the damage track. It probably fucked up some empty prairie. We’ll know the “could’ve been worse” factor if they find ground scouring.

Oh yeah. There was. Cycloidal ground scouring marks and broader ground/grass scouring with extreme tree/vegetation damage.
In other news, the first Tornado Emergency in Michigan history got issued a few minutes ago.

Holy shit, today looks way more dangerous because it’s got some populated areas in its crosshairs.
Edit: a FedEx distribution center in Michigan got obliterated. Hope the employees were in shelter areas.

Yep. Mass casualty incident declared from one of the tornadoes hitting a Fed-Ex building with at least 40 known people trapped inside. Numerous PDS warnings on discrete cells being issued in Michigan and Indiana.
Building seemed to be multi-story and several floors collapsed. This is not good.

What I've heard of firsthand descriptions from the scene are the stuff of nightmares,
Anyone with flying assets who can assist, throw OPSEC out the fucking window and offer it. There or elsewhere.
