As someone who actually selfships to some extent I recommend anyone who does to actually do it for fun and not treat it as a real person. Delusions like these are what the fandom is known for, I would have provided juicy infights over sharing but they either been deleted or lost to time the community is a mess, the people who runs servers for this are favortists and some of them are just plain problematic I have a few personal lolcow stories I made on the Birdie Thread about the community and I wish that things could have ended differently but nowadays I stick to my own self and just stay out occasionally I do catch strays of drama that I forget to archive or like.
The increase in crazy and delusional "shipping" or "waifuism" could also be a symptom of how bad modern "society" can be for mental health, and also the increase in autism.
I mean I love Cell and all but you won't catch me dead harassing random people online for shipping Frieza x Cell and King Cold x Cell for no reason (Other than the fact it's technically Incest but eh.) The bottom line is emotional regulation for not just children BUT adults are wild, who the fuck thinks to sperg out over someone else sharing or shipping a canon character with another character. It's always the fangirls who end up choosing a character to be simping for but chimping out when they get paired offscreen typing this reminded me of a time when I was younger.

"Yumeshippers"/Selfshippers who call themselves that are usually femcels who are active on tumblr and tumblrified areas of Xitter. "Waifu culture" people are usually sweaty neckbearded moids. The demographics of these two groups are so different that I think separate threads are warranted.

'Yumeshipping" comes from the term 'Yumejoshi', which is a Japanese term for a woman who dreams about being romantically involved with a fictional character.

I really don't know why the artist did that, maybe RicoGamerBoi put that in the request because he still saw his fake kids as his babies, like a more autistic version of how parents still see their real kids as their babies.

For example, the guy who made the collection, EricoTheFandomWonder, has had his DeviantArt account for 6 years now, has made 1197 posts on DeviantArt, and is still uploading stuff to this day.
