Fearing that its new plans for the U.S. military draft pool won’t work, the Selective Service System wants to create a computer simulation to test scenarios for its national mobilization.

The “Readiness Simulation” project comes as the U.S. government is about to change its draft registration system.

Since 1940, men within a designated age range have been required to register with the Selective Service. But under a proposed rule, men aged 18 to 26 will be automatically registered starting Dec. 19, 2026. The Selective Service System will work off data contained in other federal databases.

Questions remain about how prepared the Selective Service System is to handle the change.

“SSS currently relies on manual analysis, legacy modeling approaches, outdated assumptions, and historical datasets that do not fully reflect modern demographics, communications channels, throughput constraints, or operational readiness conditions,” warned the agency in a Request for Quote for the Readiness Simulation tool.

The deadline for vendors to propose their simulation models is Aug. 14.

The computer simulation will explore multiple areas. These include evaluating staffing and resource requirements, comparing mobilization and police scenarios and assessing the operational impact of surge conditions. In addition, the system will “identify throughput risks, delays, and bottlenecks” and support executive planning and reporting obligations.

The goal is a simulation system that “models the full end-to-end SSS mobilization pipeline, supports configurable scenarios, and provides decision-support analytics necessary for leadership, planners, and operators.”

Scenarios will encompass draft registration, selection, notification, delivery and classification. They will also cover the Alternative Service Program, which includes various forms of community service as well as conscientious objectors.

Computer models will “represent MEPS [Military Entrance Processing Stations] throughput, no-shows, medical disqualification rates, claims processing, and ASP diversion,” according to the Request for Quote.

Contractors must be prepared to run the Readiness Simulation while “recognizing that legacy SSS draft data may be outdated or unreliable,” the agency said.

A draft registration system based on data compiled by — and accessed from — other federal agencies is likely to raise privacy concerns.

The computer simulation “shall operate within an SSS-designated cloud environment, use anonymized aggregate data, and support complete Government ownership and sustainment,” the agency said.

The simulation must also comply with multiple privacy regulations.

"I've been hearing that some very SELFISH and UN-AMERICAN citizens have been avoiding the Dapper Destruction Draft. My administration has put MILLIONS into our GREAT nation's military program. DESPITE THIS, several personnel are NOT reporting for DUTY. This will not stand. ANY individual suspected of DRAFT DODGING will be given CAPITAL PUNISHMENT. We do not need more PANSIES using up our GLORIOUS country's resources. Thank you for your attention on this matter. DJT"

The sad part about the military is their gay rules and the fun part is that you get to kill people but unfortunately not with immunity. If you want to look at joining from a individualistic perspective you need to receive more benefits and have less restrictive rules in order to sway conscription.

Military would be fun if they did not have month long gay frat rituals as basic training.

But I would be beyond shocked if a draft ever actually happened.
The US government is full of malicious oligarchs, so it wouldn't surprise me if it did in theory.
exhausted from getting railroaded from every possible angle and both sides of the political spectrum
In regard to the sentiment of this, people will fall in line as they did for covid and slobber pukeraine (what this is more likely about). Twitter / Kiwi Farms politics are not real life.

The outcome of this can be predicted: the draft will be a massive logistical burden and there will be shortcomings. Both the America and the American military are very different from the last time there was conscription for the United States Armed Forces.
With all forces trending towards a smaller, more professionalised force, the US cannot forever keep up being a huge job organisation when it's actual fighting force can only be so large before it causes significant supply issues. Even the soviets recognised this in the 1970s and planned by the mid 1990s to cut down on their mostly conscript service with a much, much smaller force. Also this is not even accounting for the fact of scaling up the size of the officer corps, which you will then find yourself running into the same issue China had during their conflict with Vietnam in 1979 (this is besides the entire removing officer ranks which was in reality culling them down to 5 positions total). You cannot scale up an officer corps by even 2x to accommodate for conscription without making the NCO and CO rank quality completely shitting the bed and risking losing a shitload of men in combat because all your officers are even more retarded than before since you needed to rush them through to fill in those positions.
Patience for US government fuckery is at an all time low and no matter who is president, the people are all fucking exhausted from getting railroaded from every possible angle and both sides of the political spectrum would be happy to re-water the tree of liberty if you start sending more sons and daughters into the meat grinder for another useless forever war. It's the reason why this whole comflict has been exclusively air missions and nothing else.
Top military brass themselves already hate the sandbox and do not want to get dragged into it any longer. Although certain people are obviously pushing for it still and the military industrial complex needs to keep using up its stockpiles so they can keep up production. If a war is to happen with a near-peer opponent (China most likely), the US military is going to suffer issues far larger than just not getting enough manpower to actually fight in the war.

Also can A&N niggers not resort to Israel and sexual insults for 2 posts? pretty pls.

Skill issue. Smart conscription systems incorporate the training of new NCOs and COs by picking those who volunteer for the roles and testing them to see if they are actually fit for the duty. Also, it helps ensure that you have officers who actually do understand what being a grunt is because they went thru the same basic training as everyone else before volunteering for officer duty. Those same volunteers then can be used to command the next batch of conscripts so they get some experience in telling people what to do.

We are working off the assumption that this has been entirely laid out bare with full transparency for a hypothetical conscription being reintroduced. We would have to see what an actual system would look like in terms of training of whether they keep the current system or if it is tinkered due to xyz reasons, if it is from congress meddling, most people being too fat and retarded to serve etc. I am 50/50 on it being a smart conscription system.

I think it's possible for the US federal government to have a draft again. All they would have to do is cut off of any benefits and freeze the bank accounts. It would work for most young men. Very few can survive in the modern day without using some part of the digital system that the federal government can turn off at will. Even if it's logistically possible to bring back conscription in America, I don't think it's likely simply for the reason that no one really knows what the consequences would be.

Just some more fearmongering shit to try and get people freaked the fuck out. There's not going to be a draft for reasons people have stated in this thread, but naturally MSM is going to get people freaked the fuck out because that is the only way they can get viewership.
I agree. The amount of low- and no-information people out there just boggles my fucking mind sometimes. I heard some lady at the gym the other day talking about how Social Security Checks are going to be delayed in August. I don't know where she heard such nonsense but she was talking as if she got it from the SSA directly.

I have no doubt that by Monday, I'm going to be hearing shit like "They're getting ready to bring back the Draft."

There's an awful lot of sperging in this thread over something that's just never going to happen because the government doesn't want to deal with the consequences of it happening and the military knows that conscripts do not make good soldiers.
Read up on any war and there's a 80% chance it was a one-sided slaughter. On paper it sounds great to have healthy capable men in every household, but that also requires guns being out of the picture (or legalized) and actually wanting to fight for your country.

While I wasn't drafted spent four years enlisted before being commissioned. Made me a MUCH better officer. Once you've had to obey stupid orders, you think very hard before issuing an order on your own that could be considered stupid. Sometimes you have to relay a stupid order you were given by higher-ups. In that case, you issue the order and try your best to mitigate the worst aspects of the order.

Some of the best, and some of the worst officers I ever saw were those with prior enlisted experience. Interestingly, later on, as an instructor, trained a number of new lieutenants whom I had previously served with. This policy was later discontinued because the using command found many of these officers who had extensive prior enlisted service retired before being up to promotion for major, resulting in a shortage of majors.

Believe anyone wanting a line (non-medical/non-legal/non-chaplain) commission should have to serve at least one year as an enlisted member before getting into any commissioning program, including the service academies. Going even further, would close all the service academies. The quality of the officers coming from Officer Training School and ROTC is just as good, these grads are more well-rounded, from personal experience, and these officers cost much less to produce than an academy graduate.

Can someone explain to me why this can't be done through the Social Security (I think that's it) and Tax ID's? like simple database export of men in X age range not reported as dead and then have a script to arrange by address tied to the postcode an then a mailmerge to send out "Dear Mr Jones, Carl you are henceforth ordered to report for duty at..." I know there is a method for doing that in the UK with even more data to fine tune it why does it have to be a extra cost to an external service if the state has the monopoly on violence it can't "put out to tender" the contract to the lowest bidder with the biggest bribe.

I'm not an American, so I am in no way at risk of this myself but I have friends online and IRL who would be effected by this and I personally think the draft outside of some extremely edge cases immoral (also exceptions other than debilitating medical conditions including retardation) and utterly abhorrent but the thing that get's me is that they would even consider outsourcing this asking young people to pay a third party to decide there fate, for parents an grandparents to pay to send there son's to a war they want no part in and can't understand why they are fighting. It sickens me that there are even people who'd consider proffiting off it your Children are your Future and spending there lives should not have a profit motive behind it at all.

You could mitigate that risk by recall.

Wouldn't be surprised to learn of a hookup between Selective Service and Social Security on this. Social Security would know which men in this age group are disabled, since they pay the disability benefits. Also, Social Security would likely have a bigger database of men, since not all men will sign up for the draft when turning 18, but they get those Social Security numbers. This makes Selective Service's job easier, no need to call the disabled, and they can call those who think by not signing up they won't be called.

One could also do the Soviet thing and incorporate ROTC aspects in academia for fields relevant to military, like Meterology or Structural Engineering or Systems Analysis.

Heck, you could go further and start identifying the best, recruiting them for certain fields, such as space operations, intelligence, communications, etc. You could sweeten the deal for the best of the lot by commissioning them as first lieutenants instead of second lieutenants, or maybe a nice signing bonus, or both. A brand-new second lieutenant starts at $4150/month, a brand-new first lieutenant starts at $4782/month, plus tax-free housing and food allowances. Food allowance the same for all officers, housing allowance increases by rank/family status.

We do employ these incentives for doctors when they come in. New doctors come in as captains, more experienced come in as majors up to colonels, can get signing bonuses depending on specialty. Also, as medical officers their promotions are not handled the same as line officers. From what little I saw getting up to lieutenant colonel for a doctor was no sweat at all, but colonel was much harder. Colonels tend to spend more of their time in leadership jobs vice seeing patients, but some will see certain patients.

The US Economy is performing the best out of every other western country.
Either "better than every other western country" or "best out of all the western countries". There's no such thing as being number anything out of a group designation you exclude yourself out of.
