Planes! Trains! Automobiles! Dioramas, if you're that way inclined.

Post your finished models, your WIPs, your several day long research spirals about why that fs36118 equivalent you bought is half a shade to dark and blue-ish, talk about your least favourite kit maker and why it's hobbyboss, that sorta thing.

I've been making planes for like 3 years at this point. I'm still not great (or even good :)) at it but hey, it's good fun. I'm one of those "brush painters" you hear about sometimes.

Your models are pretty good, but for the love of god dust them before taking photos.

I had about 20 done kits (all planes) when my shelf decided to collapse and destroy nearly all of them. Since then, my backlog has been consistently bigger than the amount of finished kits I have.

Current WIP. I'll finish it eventually.

right so airfix unveiled their 2024 range yesterday.
nothing to really wet your pants about although the chinook and p.1127 look pretty interesting. That being said, they're releasing a new eurofighter typhoon starter set and it doesn't appear to have any things under wings which is just really sad looking imo. Hobbyboss did the same with their typhoon and it's equally as puzzling.

That's a beauty, and a nice model as well. Do you airbrush at all?

I used to make models as a kid. Heart kind of went out of it when a school mate came over one day and proceeded to wreck them all by throwing them out of a window to see if they could fly.

Do any of you do Ships in Bottles? Is that still a thing that exists or is it a case of Pop Culture making them a bigger thing than they actually are? I always thought those things looked insane.

Also I would argue that this is less autistic than Gunpla due to modeling real machines from the real world.

Yeah I think ships in bottles is very much a case of pop culture exaggerating it. Maybe they have their own specific groups online that I just don't know about but it's not something I've come across even after several years lmao.

There is a very special kind of anal retentiveness that dominates the hobby but it's kind of splitting hairs tbf

Necro, but how do you guys figure out which colors to use, both for the coat and shading?
check guides for different common paints like uniform colours, there are also conversion charts for popular paint brands like humbrol, revell, tamiya, vallejo. if you cant find an old thread to take paintscheme info for then improvise and dont worry about the shade of green or grey being slightly off. for shading do the same
