Okay. I want to apologise here for mouthing off. I made some very broad generalisations about both fields, and the thing with making those sorts of generalisations is that they're usually, um, wrong. I will say that in terms of my experience, the majority of the wankers loudly refusing to learn what they didn't already know have been in the humanities. I have met, however, some pretty spectacular cases of wankitis in the sciences as well, and in a couple of cases they were genuinely dangerous in practical applications. My overall personal experience, however, has been that the worst cases of group think do tend to occur amongst people in the humanities. This is not to say that group think doesn't occur in the sciences as well, because it does. Frequently.
Sorry everyone, don't mind me.
