It's sweet that they went Retrowave with the trailer song

We got a good understanding of how it would end with Guardian fight ending that showed Jack becoming some sort of warrior king.

But then again the whole series was about the journey and not the destination. Still gonna be fun seeing it knowing full well what the ending is gonna be.

I fucking loved this guy.

Made me laugh how the cult had to talk to a statue and this guy just rang Aku up on his phone

That's the wonder of magic, bay-bay.

I have to admit, having watched it last night, it's quite something when nostalgia manages to come along and improve itself.

The slightly darker tone while still reminding you of the brutality of the robot fights, the deeper development of Jack and his guilt after so long endlessly fighting, the fact nearly everything Jack carries with him is from people he's killed...

Mrgh, just really really well done. I can see why Adult Swim picked up the baton to end the show.

Tonight's episode was really really good. The music and animation are stellar and I'm glad it has more room to branch out into some more darker themes now that it belongs to Adult Swim. I just can't believe there's only 10 eps of this final season.

Maybe if we're lucky and it does really really good in ratings, we'll get more.

Best scene was when the assassin chicks were looking for him in the room with all the coffins. Very suspenseful, and the music really hammers it in.

The scene was a massive hommage to "The good the bad and the Ugly"
Also that part where jack is being talked into commiting seppuku by himself, aswell as being stabbed in the exact spot it begins

What I'm really loving thus far is even with full creative control now Tartakovsky is still pretty tasteful with the adult elements like gore and violence. Even down to the dialogue, Jack trying to convince himself to commit seppuku was fucking awesome and I really liked that they never directly addressed it out loud as neither suicide nor seppuku. The animation in the second episode is so good, and I absolutely loved the scene early on where the assassins are just whirling around Jack and kicking the shit out of him.

Overall this has been stellar thus far and has blown every expectation I had out of the water. Can't wait for the Scotsman, I hope we get another super long insult out of him.

Best case scenario would imo be that they give Genndy a new show to work on after this. No sense in jerking off things to death.
They seemed to want us to pay closer attention to the one assassin chick named Ashi in the previous episode. I'm betting that she turns good later on, as that's what they appeared to be hinting at. Maybe we'll get a spin-off starring her or something (provided she lives).

Did you pay attention to the tigers?
Yeah though that whole thing doesn't seem to be an EXACT parallel of Jack's fight. I doubt that it's an indication of how things actually turn out. The wolf appears to die at the end of that, and while Jack's certainly badly wounded, they obviously aren't gonna kill him off this way.

I think that whole scene is more of an artistic choice than any genuine foreshadowing. Of course I could be wrong.

I've really been digging the season so far. Episode 2's ending was fantastic. Really curious what direction episode 3 will take.

After watching the first two episodes of season 5 I gotta say, as much as I enjoy the original series, I kinda wish it was an Adult Swim show to begin with. SJ really seems to be at it's best when there aren't really any limitations.
