Culture Samantha Bee’s ‘Full Frontal’ canceled after 7 seasons - 7 years too late, but good riddance

“Full Frontal with Samantha Bee” is the latest late-night show to get axed from network television.

TBS said the show will not return in the fall after the network “made some difficult, business-based decisions” about their new programming strategy, Variety reported.

“Bee made television history in the late night space, paving the way for female voices in what has traditionally been, and continues to be a male-dominated landscape,” the 52-year-old comedian’s reps said to The Post about her seven-season run.

” ‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’ consistently broke barriers with Sam and her team boldly using political satire to entertain, inform and empower viewers, while embracing critically underrepresented stories, particularly about women.”

Premiering Feb. 8, 2016, Bee’s gig came months ahead of Donald Trump’s whirlwind presidency. She recently achieved the show’s 200th episode, a major milestone considering the show was filmed in her backyard throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Production never returned to the New York City studio, but rather to its own studio in Norwalk, Conn.

The former “Daily Show” correspondent used her platform to tackle political issues in expletive- and joke-laced monologues — which sometimes landed her in hot water.

In 2021, TBS renewed “Full Frontal” despite the show’s low-ranking viewership compared to late-night colleagues Stephen Colbert (CBS), Jimmy Kimmel (ABC) and Jimmy Fallon (NBC). These shows averaged 1.5 million to 2 million nightly viewers in 2020-2021 according to Nielsen, while Bee entertained around 451,000 fans per night.

” ‘Full Frontal with Samantha Bee’ continues to reach nearly 2.9 million viewers per episode and currently boasts more than 502 million YouTube views,” TBS said in a statement at the time of its renewal.

WarnerMedia also axed Conan O’Brien’s “Conan” from TBS in 2021 after 11 years on TV. Influencer Lilly Singh and NBC’s show in the wee hours of the morning didn’t work out, either. Bee’s shakeup also comes as James Cordon is set to depart from CBS’s “The Late Late Show” next fall.

Late Night delenda est.

Wasn't her big "moment" calling Ivanka Trump a cunt and making a joke about her being raped or molested? Of course all the leftist seals clapped and laughed even though that would normally be doing a big misogyny or something.

Anyhow I honestly believed her show had been canceled 6 years ago so congrats I guess.
She also called Republican women "wombs"

Why? Conan was at least semi-funny and able to laugh at himself, plus he's an ex Simpsons writer. Was it something to do with Andy Richter?
Lot of these shows seemed to fall apart when they had lockdown rules done they prevented using a studio. Samantha Bee and Ellen did bare bones projects from home, same with the Daily Show for a while.

Conan was suddenly doing shows with zero audience which had to feel weird. Read somewhere he started a podcast which has to feel more relaxed as there wouldn’t be a need for writers or stressing about entertaining the audience.

All of these late night liberal struggle sessions have been sliding down the ratings the last few years, people are getting sick of being preached to by smug woke assholes and these shows have nothing other than that to offer.

It's more the fact that this isn't relevant anymore, in fact it's actually sort of insulting now that even liberals are admitting shit was way less fucked under Blumpf.

I'm honestly surprised it lasted this long. I've seen the occasional bemusing segment here and there but it was mostly unwatchable and her delivery is really, really annoying.

She was basically just the stereotypical liberal wine aunt talking down to you for wrongthink.

I've said in the past the people like Bee are less comedians and more akin to televangelists - their job is to tell the faithful that their enemies are sinful heathens, and that the new kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Television history?

Joan Rivers and The Late Show didn't happen?
Like with (I think it was Good Morning America) naming Kentanji Brown Jackson the “First Black Supreme Court Justice” in a Chiron they only want to acknowledge the “Good people” as long as they are good,

So if you hate Jackson’s appointment to the SCOTUS just know she’s one statement, ruling or soundbite away from joining Clarence Thomas in the “Housenigger Uncle Tom” leftist dog house.

Who? Ohh, one of Lebowitz's alumni... yeah, how come every spawn from that show went on to be a peak propagandist/commie shill? Oliver, Colbert, Bee, Noah to name a few. Guess "gain control of all media" is a Tribe tradition at this point.
Shut up and laugh and applaud the dancing needles you sheep!

Fuck the cuck who wrote this shit. Joan Rivers had a late night talk show decades before this bitch had. As well as Roseanne with her talk show.

I don't remember Conan being particularly political. Seemed more like he tried to avoid it, to his detriment among the brain damaged demo.

Like every talk show host back then, they were neutral & made jokes at both sides.

They started to pick sides during the Obama years, when Jon Stewart was at his most popular.
After that, comedy was void from all late night talk shows.

Conan's TBS show was full on charity to shut him and his insanely vocal jihadi fanbase up after he got fucked over by Leno/NBC in Late Night Wars 2.0.

Also Conan went full on "Orange Man Bad" and killed his entire credibility. After Trump badmouthed Haiti, Conan went to a 1%er vacation resort on the island to "rebuke" Trump's claim that Haiti was a horrible place to live; Conan tried to pass off the resort as "representing Haiti", but everyone and their mother noted that the places he went to while filming there were resort property and that Conan NEVER LEFT the 1%er resort bubble to actually venture out into Haiti proper. Essentially doing the equivalent of landing in a foreign country and never leaving the hotel room you were in.

This combined with the fact that it turned out that his critics WERE correct; that Conan only really worked as the underdog who came on after the "serious" late night show and that Conan couldn't really keep what made him likable and edgy when he's in a position to act like Carson and not Carson's clean-up man (as Conan has always been accused of being a Letterman clone).

Next one to get the rope should be unfunny faggot Stephen Colbert and his dancing needles.

Seriously, with the budget that he has, that was what his writers came up with: some queers and a woman shilling for big pharma (or possibly heroin, depending on how conspiratorial you want to get)

As someone who watched Conan from 1994 to the end of his run on The Tonight Show all of the “Conan only works on cleanup duty because he’s a Letterman clone” is 100% correct and it’s why I checked out of Conan when I realized the TBS show was gonna be more “Tonight Show Conan” aka, #NotMyConan
