The Cameo thing doesn't seem realistic. Maybe when he started doing it he was making quite a bit due to the novelty of it, but how many of his fans would keep on paying for Cameo vids? Seems like as valuable an income source as NFTs.

Sam's fans are a bit insane with how they worship the guy, so they're probably eager to throw money at the guy for whatever and it may not have caused any net increase in Sam's income to do extra work when these people would give him the money regardless. He's practically a cult figure to some of these people that want a father figure who really gets them.
 
Having to literally go through 14 pages of people questioning Sam Hyde’s financials to wondering when MDE was ever really funny is a huge trip, man. I’ll never forget the amount of time wasted trying to ignore the point that out of context clip channels are making more views than the actual uploaders themselves.

Honestly, the only reason how I was able to witness Sam Hyde’s ”comeback” of sorts on YouTube was due to the clip channels like lil shitpost, BOSE and The New Pill reuploading content that was from Gumroad.

Personally, I still will see some of Sam’s older and new clips being uploaded by those clip channels before his team decided to up and go “delete” and cease and desist letters to tell them to stop, even though I find it interesting that Sam himself admits that he does not want to see new fans be deprived of free content that should be viewed by all.

Either way, I’ll give it four to six months, to almost a year to see how quickly Sam will get moderately richer or moderately broker after essentially admitting that all of the new clip channels uploading their videos from their podcasts and what not are theirs and theirs only.

He's always been hit and miss, with some great hits. Knife Fighting School is a classic. Issue is, he's kindof just been shepherding his flock for a while, and all of that shit is boring.

The show was ultimately canceled because of a backlash against Sam's political opinions and nothing whatsoever to do with the content of the actual show. I think Adult Swim was largely dominated by Tim Heidecker for a while (haven't watched anything there in ages) so once Hyde got labeled something naughty like Alt Right by guys like Joe Bernstein and people like Heidecker could learn of it and start making phone calls to try pressuring executives to give him the boot.

When pressed by the media Sam would essentially lend credence to any and all accusations, which could be funny to Sam's fans, but if you knew nothing about him other than he was supposed to be nefarious then what are you supposed to think about comments like these:

It may seem pathetic, but sometimes you need to know when to keep your head down if you want to keep your job going or to keep work connections alive. Still I wonder if old Joe Bernstein is laughing about that Sam Hyde interview now considering he's joining the New York Times (style section).

I'm not sure it's exactly the journoscum or corporate types that really messed with Sam so much as an inability to adapt. You have youtubers that do Let's Plays, who eventually found it just wasn't working to grow their audiences so transitioned to twitch, because when one thing stopped working they knew they needed to transition to something that would. They'd also try being friendly or sucking up to others to help get promoted so they'd all grow their audiences.

In contrast, you have guys like Sam who didn't seem interested in adapting. He didn't try figuring out a way to continue doing a sketch show with his friends, he didn't try managing his image (to avoid the PR nightmare he got sucked into), and as far as I can tell he seems disinterested in doing anything to make new connections. So he ends up seeming less competent at growing a profitable audience than someone that made a living playing Minecraft.
