If the characters were at least likeable and the dialog felt natural, they could get away with that shit. I feel like Shaundi or maybe Gat could get away with that in Saints 2, but I could also see Laura, the housewife drug dealer, offering the boss one too.

2077 at least has the excuse of being attached to a setting that already existed, and already tied these themes into the thing.
I have no idea what they're going for with this.
Whatever you feel about SR4 as a game, its themes and topics had a clear direction, with the gameplay similarly reflecting it. Sure, it was ultimately a DLC stretched into a full project, but the development at least seemed like it knew what it wanted to do. Here it just looks like throwing everything at the wall is their goal, without an underlying plan.

Making a guess - the dipshits they hired realized Saints Row was literally the only IP they have of any value, but unfortunately are Progressives so they only know/care about like, 3 issues tops.
Welp, if I had any expectations for this game, that woulda crushed them. Thankfully, we all smelt the dumpster fire from a mile off on this one…

They definitely could, especially if they got ragged a bit on drinking something like that and bite back, creating a bit of humorous dialogue and interraction between the two.
But yeah, as it stands we know there would not be something like that since these idiots clearly are making a game only for themselves.

There are two ways the scene could have played out in the original games. Pierce or Shaundi give The Boss a mugmosa and TB gives em shit about it. Or the opposite, and TB defends their choice with how they "fuckin' love mugmosa's."
The reason this all fails is because, rather than be a goofy gag, every single character in this is a sopping wet blanket. Nobody wants to be a millennial startup company, they want to be criminals. It's like how the characterization of the boss is all fucked up. Originally they were an unhinged sociopath with a penchant for extreme violence. Now they're a sympathetic goofball with lolsowacky tendencies and motivation like "need muh loans paid."
Can't have the protagonists in our open world crime game be a bad person motivated by self interest! They need a sympathetic motivation!
