I can vouch that all of that was true. I followed Goose on Twitch after seeing him on an AGDQ or SGDQ or something. I remember the sweater, the christmas lights, and the house goal. He also would say 'stay true' after every stream as his tag line.

The sweater and Christmas lights are comfy as fuck, he even sits in front of an actual fireplace in like a log cabin in some of his videos.
 
If you're an outsider looking in, Goose seems like one of the most "normal" people in the speedrunning community. If you know anything about him you know he's one of the most bizarre.

Something the OP hasn't mentioned: He's one of the leaders of The Elite, a Goldeneye and Perfect Dark speedrunning community. This is one of the oldest internet speedrunning communities still active today, I think it was founded some time in the late 90s.
What's notable about The Elite is that they are one of the last holdouts to still use in-game time (IGT) over real time (RTA) for timing runs. This isn't inherently wrong since the IGT in many games can exclude loading screens and be accurate to the exact millisecond. But in Goldeneye the timer is only accurate to the second.
This leads to situations like the one below, where hundreds of people hold the record for a certain level.
