As an aside, have any of you ever lurked in RWBY centered RP groups? If you've a passion for writing in any way, shape, or form, the potential for schadenfreude is absolutely palpable. From power-tripping mods, over-sensitive asswipes, and generally just very poor writers, they got it all!

If this were any other show but RWBY that would actually be a distinguishing feature too since Menagerie is essentially a giant refugee camp that became a country only about a century ago. Disparate groups coming together into a giant melting pot that ends up having no real identity of it's own due to it's young age is actually somewhat interesting.

I always felt like it would make sense to have Menagerie be an overcrowded, messy shithole. I can get what they were going for with Hawaii as an inspiration, but it should look like Hawaii if you filled it with like quadruple the population. They almost got this across in the trailer before the volume dropped, but fucked it up hard in the show. RWBY's worldbuilding is really lazy, though, they don't do anything interesting at all with the fantastical elements to create unique scenery. The Everfall was a fun idea, a place where the forests are always in a perpetual state of falling red and gold. Now every location is just 'real world location mixed with other real world location'. Boring as shit.

Coding is a term for pussies while putting the onus on the original creator.

It's just another trap used to justify cancelling, like all the other 'rules' these faggots make. Ever heard the story of the old man and the snake? People like Twiins are that to a T. No matter how much you coddle, accommodate, help or befriend, they'll always bite. It's just in their nature.

This is pretty much the same for all RP groups though. Roleplaying attracts the most insufferable faggots imaginable, I'm not entirely sure why, I guess playing pretend with other retards would naturally attract a bunch of childish cunts. I did know a guy once that was so obsessed with roleplaying for a certain magical horse show that his banning from some of the major servers resulted in a depression spiral that drove him to attempt suicide multiple times. If they're anything like him then I'd suggest steering clear.

See this is another good example of my whole "Twiin is too stupid to understand the real problem" thing; she talks about how RWBY has way too many characters and instead of addressing that core issue she just bitches for ten minutes about how this one character that she really likes is being ignored and underdeveloped.

EDIT: Sure she spends some time later trying to fix that problem but her solution is to make Juane into Oscar's role, which is dumb.

Not inherently stupid. There is a reason so many fanfic writers tend to just remove Oscar and just have Ozpin latch on to Jaune. Removing a nothing character like Oscar and merging his role of significance (and the concept of Jaune being subsumed by Ozpin) to the de facto main character in all but name is actually pretty interesting in the hands of good writers.

We of course know that no good writers exist in the RWBY sphere though.

Ozpin dies, it's that simple. He's still a great man who was loved by many and had connections all over the place that might be able to help our heroines sure, but the dude's dead.

Honestly it's miles better than the possession shit going on for both FRWBY and RWBY. Deals with the character bloat issue and removing some of the forced and contrived character development because there are two less tag-alongs in the group and arguably the best pro you get is that it opens a lot of opportunities for you as a writer. Also, story-wise, it would make team RWBY jumping to conclusions and making assumptions feel all the more natural as well as justifying their distrust and suspicion towards people and groups affiliated with Ozpin. since they have little to no context of his motives while also having all info they get from that point forward are from rummaging a dead guy's diary and hearsay.

But as you said it yourself, RWBY is the epitome of Murphy's Law, I don't see them pulling something off like @Sleazy Car Salesman's take on Ozpin much better than their original idea either.

It stoked his ego NOT to do it. By having Ozpin inhabit Jaune that means Miles precious self-insert has to share screen time with Ozpin and possibly be consumed by him. Don't ever assume Mile's does anything that doesn't satisfy his ego first and foremost.

More or less, yeah. You don't remove a tumor to replace it with a different tumor, I think the core of the issue is Ozpin's role as this immortal entity that body snatches people in his pursuit of fighting Salem (another character that I would either remove entirely or DRASTICALLY revise). I'm not gonna remove Oscar just to replace him with a different character in service of a plot point I find stupid.

PS: If I were forced to keep Ozpin's reincarnation as a plot point then sure, probably Juane. Or I'd go way off the deep end and make it Ruby, or Pyrrah. Ruby because it would allow us to keep the main four characters and trim down on the size of the ensemble but now one of them has this really horrifying psychological shit going on. I'd keep it pretty low key for Volume 4 where she's just receiving visions and flashbacks to memories that aren't her own, and occasionally speaking or acting in a way that could only be described as "wrong" for Ruby, and then in Volume 5 I'd have the big reveal and subsequent "what the fuck?" horror show, I also feel that making Ozpin consume one of the main girls would probably drive some legitimacy over to Raven's beliefs and actually portray Ozpin as the morally gray chess master that Monty was trying to portray him as. Alternatively Pyrrah comes back, but she's still dead. Her soul or whatever this setting has instead of a soul has passed on, but her body remained instead of being vaporized, or Ozpin's essence reformed it, or whatever. Point is; Pyrrah is still around physically but it's Oz puppeteering it. Really drive home the horrific nature of Oz's existence.
